Austrian shite sightings *cyprus-update*

Hi to all!

At first, let me introduce myself a bit. My name is Lukas, I´m 25, from south-eastern Austria (near Graz) and I´m an OJC-holic. I found OJC almost two years ago and there I read about autoshite. Did not know what this means, there seems to be no word for it in German. But after almost a years reading here, I got it I think  and now I want to share my pictures of interesting and shitey cars I´ve seen in or near Graz. In Austria, the plate belongs to the owner so I have to make it unreadyble when showing the pictures. It´s a law-thing, don´t ask.

Didn't think you'd be able to resist Autoshite for much longer, Lukas!Nice set of spots. That bugeye Corolla is in a bizzare colour, wonder how that happened? Perhaps it used to be a service vehicle of some description. You could get Corsa Bs in a similar colour, very rare though (and almost completely unsaleable).

And as an addition a very small Part 6:

The Corolla E11 as available in this colour for everyone, it was called "Sahara Sand" 8) :

Very rare, I´ve only seen another E11 in this colour once.

Great set of spots Lukas, welcome along. I like those utterly bland Mazda 929s they never attempted to sell here.

Posted

What an awesome variety! I definitely live in the wrong country!

That yellow Benz Estate is brilliant!

But help me out here, what's this?

Gotta be some high end price but average build/longevity mega depreciation tank never considered for RHD

Absolutely right, it´s a Kia Opirus. Very expensive, only available in LHD-countries, they sold 4 a years. Stopped the import this summer because sales dropped to zero.

Kia Opirus. 2.5, 2.7, 3.3 or 3.5 litre barges. Never seen one in UK, but plenty in the Far East tho' - bit like a Korean Omega in terms of size and clientele. USA had a fair few as well.I think there are RHD versions in Japan.

Sold in the USA as a Kia Amanti

I had one from Hertz after someone rearended the Lincoln Town Car I was renting - it was the only 'luxury RWD' class car they had at South Bend Airport Hertz.

It wasn't bad at all, styling looked like it was based on the current Town Car as well.

Welcome Lukas, nice selection of spots there and some great 'oldtimers', most seem to be very rust free, Isn't highy corrosive salt spread on the roads during winter in Austria as it is over here?

Posted

hey welcome aboard!Nice spots there, and you seem to have a good camera eye. (if thats even a logical thing to say)

:lol::lol::lol::lol: Rust is a lot worse than in the UK. There are not many oldtimer on the road, but those who are are driven only between april and october. Very, very few old cars (older then 30 years) are driven all over the year, those get excessively rustproofed every year. In Austria, the annual road safety inspection is very strict, so cars that want to pass it have to be almost rustfree. That´s the reason why in Austria there are a lot less old cars on the road than in the UK for example, but the ones who are, are mainly in very good condition or perfectly restored.

Welcome to the mad house Lukas! :D

I'm loving some of your spots, You never see some of that stuff here, even at car shows!

We have one of these at work in the fire department, You don't see it out much but i saw it the other day for the first time in ages, It's a 1990 reg, Must try and get a photo one day.

Hello and welcome.I like your selection of spots - that big Kia is definetly my favourite. Completely obscure yet strangely appealing.

Posted

Hi Lukas, glad you made it at last. I reckon about 80% of OJC people are on here now....

Posted

Wlcome Lukas. Going on those photos you've got the definition of Autoshite spot on :D

Yummy Opel 8)

Welcome Lukas. Why the Lexus Coupe pic? Are they quite rare in Austria? I used to hate them but admittedly they're slowly growing on me.

Posted

This Lexus Coupe/Convertible is extraordinary rare here, I haven´t seen more than 3 different ones ever here! Austrians think "Why buy a Lexus, I´ll got for a SL500 instead". They are very expensive, a bit obscure looking and not from Germany, so nobody buys it.

Whenever I visit England or even the less harsh parts of Scotland I notice many more older cars on the roads.Where I live, my car registered in 1996 is often the oldest one I see in weeks. I feel your pain.
