Time for another video.  Dad Tat 2: Plastic Boogaloo.

If only I'd been able to find a red plastic Turtle Wax dashtop air freshener, that would have been the metaphorical cherry on top.

I I didn't already enjoy the enhanced convenience provided by luxurious central locking, I'd be all over this kit. Very reasonably priced and goes to a good cause

You guys are terrible enablers ðŸ˜† I'm now watching and potentially the second bidder!

On the top of previous enabled purchases, what are everyone's thoughts on a quick mock-up for colour choices. I've included the Samara purely as a reference but doesn't mean it has to match with black...

Here's original unpainted (or silver for argument's sake, the colour of the existing grill on the car), black and red...

I vote red on the strength of the mock ups, it's got the right sort of aftermarket look to it, if you get what I mean.

Posted

The grille looks upside down to me. But red, to match the wiperarms.

Another vote for red, here - just looks nicely tidy when it blends in with the body colour, based on the mock-up pic.

I am something of a fan of integrated driving lights anyway...

To buck the trend I'm going to say silver.

Imagine the enhanced pleasure from driving such a machine equipped with central locking and spotlights! Incredible.

It’s a vote for red from me. The spotlights get lost in the silver and the black isn’t right for a Maestro.

The ‘90s tat is something I enjoy collecting too, the perfect blend of practicality and tacky. I’m thinking of putting a set of fog lamps under the bumper.

My 2p worth - I hate the pink wiper arms and the aero clips. I do like the red grille, but for me the silver looks better. My qualification for giving an opinion is that I worked in a BL parts dept when the Maestro & Montego were launched. So there. :)

Considering it came with custom made fluffy dice from @vulgalour I think I'm just missing the name stickers above the windscreen ! (I'm really not though!)

I'm so tempted right now.  Not because I want a hideous fake strawberry fragrance, but because it's hot pink and would match the Princess nicely.  Where does one leave this sort of thing for the fragrance to disappear?  I don't want it in the house, or in the car until it stops stinking.

Just spent the day patching up my Maestro van.

Don't suppose you know what the wheel nut thread pitch is on these? I'd like to order some sleeved nuts and try fitting the Lotus wheels.

I have been avidly following and liking this (well all your posts but this one is just so cool) on facebook and instagram, and I do agree with @High Jetter that I prefer the steel wheels BUT why not create it's own character and while Lotus has worked on more cars than I will ever find out about, I reckon this might be a first for a Maestro van :D

Well those wheels are ace. I'll check stud thread:

Just in case you don't know, the sleeves on Lotus alloys and the original nuts are very, very slightly tapered.  I only know this because I've got some proper Lotus nuts for the exact same wheels for the Princess which just so happens to be exactly the same thread as the Lotus which was a stroke of luck.

It's handy that the van doesn't have the weird Maestro PCD, opens up a lot more options.

This is it, the final Maestro video in the series.

I sold the car back in November to @2110 and it's taken until now, almost March, for the backlog of footage to get caught up.  Such is the nature of the video beast.
