Had to sell the red BX tho

The 2cv doesn't count as it is in many parts!

I also have bicycles but not sure if they count though the old Moulton small wheelers are definitely cycle shite!

That 405 looks like a real rubbish old thing, a rolling advertisement for the scrappage scheme.

Woah!! 'Sierra Land' as your location is certainly appropriate. More details required on them I'd think!

Posted

Wow that Sierra paddock, wish I'd been paying more attention to this thread.

Here's the Autoshite stable, in reverse order of ownership.

My current fleet in this Audi 100 and S-Type Jag as mentioned over on the snowtime 09 thread

And the Audi on day of ebay collection from Cornwall, just before Mr H Sceptre accidentally rammed his sister's new Saab into the rear end, doh..

Posted Image

This one is Mr H Sceptre's wheels, been off road for too long now, needs attention! On day of ebay collection...

Posted Image

Posted Image

And here she is next to most recent one I sadly let go, Renault 15TL

Posted Image

Posted Image

Also in the stable was this Daf 33, owned by Dafman who spends too much time lurking and not posting on here! (random fellas in shots, not us)

Posted Image

Posted Image

This one was half mine half Mr H Sceptre's around the conception of this website, hence his name. Really loved this car.

Posted Image

And here she is with the next Autoshite-stable motor on day of ebay purchase, the Daf 55 Marathon coupe

Posted Image

And finally, have I ever posted this one on here before? Maybe.

Posted Image

Posted

Wow! Grade A Shite! That Renault 15 is very nice and the S-type looks straight out the Sweeney! 8) It's nice to see the original picture for the logo above as well, makes sense now.

Posted Image

Wow! you didn't let anything go to waste on that did you!

The 900 looks ace, i don't think i've ever seen a RHD one that wasn't a camper before.

When I started to strip it, my intention was to dispose of a 'rolling shell'. That pic was at the point I'd just 'carefully' removed the whole wiring loom. Even then I still hadn't yet removed the bonnet hinges and cut the front panel (the cleanest I've ever seen) off, half a foot up the wings.....It's all in the garage loft and in the end I got £18.65 over the weighbridge for the remains :)

Great stuff EL, I like them all. That logo pic is fab.

My Bluey as seen in the car park in Blackpool from the top of the Tower on Saturday!

No change for me in the "fleet":

My redoutable Citroen GSA has been the daily driver for most of this year (and is out in the work carpark at the moment!), except for a sojourn when it was away having MOT work done, including reconning the driveshafts and replacing an upper suspension arm because the bearings were knackered.

Posted Image

Here's a pic of it while it was away.

Posted Image

Here she is at the Woking Classic Car show, the day after I'd driven it back from my mate who'd done the work in Dorset.

Posted Image

At the end of the day, I suffered the ignominy of having to be jump started by the Lomax on the right of the picture because the battery (although my mate had had it on a trickle charge because it was iffy) was kippered!!

Sometime it 's come in very handy indeed. Like several weeks ago when my girlfriend won a huge mirror off eBay:

Posted Image

Posted Image

As you can see, I had to remove the base of the rear seat to get it in! No palaver, just two bolts :)

Some of you may remember also it did sterling service on a holiday up to Yorkshire in the summer. Well, most of the time...

Posted Image

The BX has been sidelined for most of the year with a dodgy wheelbearing. I just haven't had time or dosh to get it sorted, but it'll get done in the new year. For those who don't know, I bought it off eBay a few years ago for £100 BIN with MoT, Tax and FSH.

Posted Image

I recently flushed and changed the coolant, and that has done wonders for cold starts (auto choke), so I look forward to a trouble free run in the new year. It gains bonus Autoshite points for being a sheep in wolf's clothing: it's a "Meteor" special edition so it has the Gti seats, steering wheel and rear spoiler (and I've added upmarket TZI/TZD trims to replace the fake alloys it had when I bought it).... but it has the 1.6 XU carb engine.

Last year I moved this on:

Posted Image

An early GSA C-Matic with the GS dashboard and interior 8)

...due to it needing too much work for MOT. It's currently living in Dorset awaiting fettling.

Also my old BX was cut up and scrapped :( Here she is (on the right) not long before being taken away....

Posted Image

It had suffered HG failure 2-3 years previously and had corrosion in the rear floor next to the fuel tank.

But many of its panels, and its interior, live on attached to the other BX.

Merry Christmas Autoshiters!

Mark.

Hello from a nooby.....been lurking for a while.......this is mine in a nice wintry scene......

No change for me either - same ole same ole!

But a beaut nonetheless. Currently hoping that occasional 'clacking' noise the engine has started intermittently doing doesn't mean expense and doom!

Posted Image

My 323 Javelin had that clacking noise, I traced it to a little flap inside the air filter housing, it acts as a very simple sort of passive valve, that is opened by air passing through it as the carb sucks it in, with the "clacking" taking place as acceleration was eased off and it wasn`t sure whether to be open or closed. For whatever eason, maybe it had come slightly loose or whatever, it became slightly noisy. It was totally harmless and I did not need to do anything to remedy it, and did 20,000 trouble free miles before selling the car in perfect working order. So hopefully it`s just that!

I like a good 323, had quite a few of them, including the almost-double of yours:

Hey Vic, what was the reg on yer blue 323? Mines E166 VKE - and the other week another identical (colour and all 323LX sold on the bay for 170 clams - Reg E106 VKE. Woulda been nice to have one of it's brothers!

Si - car is indeed fine and dandy, clacking seems to have gone for now! Just did another 200 mile trip in it to Haworth in the snow - no probs at all! Have topped oil up, but STILL havenae changed it - is pissin me off, but cannae find the time/money or a dry warm place! New Years reso on that one.

Defo due another wash and valet tho too - the snow and mud and children and dog don't help!!

Wow - just saw that last post - nice one Hudson! Good to 'meet' ye! We have a growing 323 clan!!Is there an owner's club? Or are they just too shite?

top stuff Chris! Nice place too Haworth, is that where your kids are?I just had a thought about the clacking, last winter there was an occasional rattle sort of noise when revved and I realised it was the exhaust heat shield just touching the exhaust. Maybe in this extreme cold it has contracted or something and is touching again? I just reached down the back of the engine and bent it downwards a bit if remember correctly.Of course, as it gets hot it stops as the metal expands.
Posted

Yup - lived in Haworth for 5 years, and drive/coach there every (or mostly every) week to see the girls. Today was awesome - massive amounts of snow, big hills, a sledge and a beautiful sunset.Clacking noise hasn't been heard since I put more oil in recently, but it was more of a very rhythmic thing.

There's your answer then! Probably lack of oil in the head of the engine. (and it was saying 'please change me') :D Have a great xmas Chris.

Whooah there - Sierra overload :D !

Are the Mk1's keepers?

I love the colours - beige and dark brown. Kind of like the last vestiges of the 70s linked to a very 1980s car!

That's a truly marvellous sight. The GL at the front is the spit of the one my uncle had in '82 - that was a 2.3V6 - and the red Mk1 reminds me of my dad's old C-plate 1.6L.Binhoker, I wonder if the rocker cover gasket is leaking on your 323, my old one did this and used a wee bit of oil now and again. GR8 cars otherwise, simplest cambelt change I've done on a transverse FWD design. Does yours have the light around the lock on the driver's door?
