Bloody hell. I think thats the earliest Panda I've seen for a long long time. Not only that but a LN as well. Is this a LNA UK spec model or an imported LN? I'm astonished what cars come up on here.

Both of them came from mainland Yerp, so LHD and none of that water-cooled nonsense :lol:

Better start looking for a Suzuki Swift then!?Christ this thread is magnificent, so many great cars. I'd love to spend a month just having a go in all of them. My pick of the pics would be Calum_B's A40 by Crummock Water, Peter's Triumph and bigstraight6's 1962 court appearance.I love the air-cooled 2-cylinderyness (Pompei's 500, MrSteve's Panda and Citroen) but most of all I'm surprised by how much I want a '70s Renault. 5, 6 or 16 (or indeed a 15 or 17), I wouldn't be fussed, they all look wonderful.

just to repeat what many have said, there is some great stuff on here, it's so refreshing to see so many different types of car in one place, i doubt there are many places on tinterweb with this level of diversity, for me it really sums up what old cars are all about, being a bit different from everyone else and not worrying about what others think. If you enjoy owning it, then it belongs here, end of. Can't wait to actually get a car (3 months? maybe optimistic...), i'll feel proud to put it up here and show it off to you guys... I'm sure Brammy (and other carless folk) feels the same way.Long live Autoshite!

This is some serious mutha-grade auto shite, what a couple of honeys. I have often looked at those twin-cylinder LN's on 'leboncoin' with a lustful eye. Quite fancy dragging one home on the A-frame. Or even better, a 652cc Visa. Yum!

 

Any chance of an engine bay pic of the Panda? Is it a transverse engine?

Just failed the MOT though, thankfully only on two things. A Track rod end, and alarmingly a 2 inch puncture in the floorpan under the drivers seat!! :shock::shock:

 

Thankfully Mr Imp of this parish is gonna weld that up for me. God knows what I ran over, but a bit close for comfort!!

Surprised that a puncture in the floor pan is an MoT fail issue. Were it rot near a structurally important area, then fair enough, but just a whole in the floor? Why would that fail?

It's because the bottom mount for the seatbelt is built into the drivers seat, so the whole area undeneath becomes structural.

wow loving that Fiat Panda more everytime i see it, the LNA is a nice add-on to the collection too...Is it a LNA rather than LN i though LN was french only (unless you imported it from here :lol:)

Panda's engine- it's a longitudinal engine, so the same layout as a 126/500.

So in the Fiat all the oily bits fit in the same space as the water-cooled version, whereas Citroen had to alter the front end of the Pug 104Z body quite a lot to get the longer flat-twin unit in, hence the need for the different headlights, grill, curved front bumper etc.

You are defo a shite 'contender' with those two bad boys.I guess the front end structure of that Panda must be totally different to the transverse engined ones. Amazing! I would love to be taken for a spin in either of those. Are the 2-cyl Pandas quite common in italy? I've never seen one for sale in France.

I've seen plenty of shagged out 2 cylinder Pandas when I've been on me hols in Italy. The heads are very sought after for tuning 500s and 126s as they have larger valves and have a twin choke carb. For some reason though, the rotation is different to the 126 so a straight engine transplant is no good :roll:

Possibly to avoid a one forward gear/four reverse scenario as the Panda's engine is mounted 180 degrees out relative to the 126/500's. No need to perpetuate that Italian tank joke ...

But when the Sisley arrived it had to go. It had been sat Sorned for 18 months as the sills had turned to weetabix. I was going to repair and sell it on, but in the end I couldn't be bothered so I broke it for spares.
