That's the best way to buy a P6. Scruffy but solid. Love it. They are marvellous barges.

They are. TBH, for what i paid for it, i cant go too wrong. Its got big bills for a top end rebuild/honed bores and a carb rebuild. It needs a respray and, i suppose, there could be hidden horrors to be found once ive unbolted the wings( although ive not found any horrors yet) BUT its all doable I suppose. Its an amazing car for such an old design, we did have some seriously clever buggers working in the British motor industry back in the day, all the more tragic that it was destroyed.

Ive had this for a couple of months now.

£750 worth of magic carpet ride. A bargain I wasnt even looking for, it was just in the right place at the right time.

Paintwork is mega shit, not too much grot and ive had to bin the boy racer cone filters and stupidly small steering wheel ( couldnt even see the speedo with it) for a proper air filter housing and a ridiculously large original steering wheel. Its had a big polish and S rims fitted to make it look slightly better quality shite.

For a 50 odd year old design its still a beauty to drive and ride comfort is utter quality and can still hold its own today.

Gotta love it.

R reg, wow!

The major leap of faith with a P6 is to lift the rear seat bases out. If all's well under there, it bodes well. Removing the cover sills is the other leap of faith!

But then you haven't taken off the front wings yet.

That Merak deserves its own thread with more photos and tales of expensive woe.

Edit. OK, re-read that you parked next to it.

What is behind it?

Edit 2. OK another bloody Merak.

Not at my best this evening.

You didn't want more pictures of my shite mini-fleet? Tough.

The Ledbury. It might be called Steve, I have not decided. This is my daily driver at the moment and is steadily being turned into a soft-roader, Streetwise style.

20121104-07.jpg

The Princess, she's called Serendipity because she's one lucky old bird (though the second picture says otherwise). Currently having a nap in the garage, waiting for some love. She'll get sorted in a few months when I've got more cash and time than I have right now.

20120325-01.jpg

20120926-03.jpg

Finally, the Polo, he's called Wilhelm. Current plan is to put it all together and figure out where I go. I'm probably going to sell this car at a massive loss, or keep it as a toy. I've had it for over a decade so I'm rather attached. Currently there's more car in the house than on the car, just trying to find the requisite combination of time, motivation and spare cash to get things moving past the current stumbling block.

20120711-09.jpg

I can't help but fiddle with a car, I have to personalise them. Which leads to me getting too attached, which in turn has led to me having 3 cars, only 1 of which I can use. I'm such an idiot.

So I got fed up of driving a sensible, reliable, economical Japanese hatch and have taken the plunge and got myself the Alfa Romeo I always wanted. What could possibly go wrong?!! :P:wink:

Picked this beauty up today courtesy of your friend and mine, D_Hirst Esq. Lovely condition, stacks of history and only 61k miles. It drives bloody lovely and it makes a change for me to have something that actually handles pretty respectably!

It's a 1.8 T Spark 16V and has been owned from 6 months old by the same chap, even had a full respray about 5 years ago.

ps: Hey Mark, that's ace!

A serious break from the norm for you? It does look minty-fresh. And the only colour to have a 155.

Lovely 155 there mash - I've found the folk at "the org" very helpful and friendly.

I've got to say my 155 is the best handling fwd car I've driven.

Saw your 'new' one at Asda yesterday - it looks well.

We're pretty happy with it, cant find many cars for £325 with a years mot and full service history. It's especially good because this is the exact car we were looking for to replace the Panda.

My old beast, parked next to a Mk1 Felly. Back in July, this crackin' little car passed its MOT with just 2 advisories. For a 13 year old car I would say that is pretty good going.

Alfa ownership is great. Probably best to go and start with of them easy access savings accounts now though.
