Yes, he is! Take a 10 grand car - take your old shitter in plus a cheque for 6k and it's yours. There's lots of talk about 'how dare the taxpayer fund this blah blah' but if someone is knocking 40% off a £10'000 Corsa in exchange for a worthless old Renault you wouldn't care who was subsidising it! Well, I wouldn't. I've looked in a 2004 Glass's guide and a basic 1.0 Corsa was £8500 even then - so no, Vauxhall haven't 'whacked 2 grand on'.Times are hard and factories have to be kept busy. Yes, it IS a pity that cars traded in under this scheme can't just be chucked into an auction to live another day - the dealer could make even more money!

No hes not he is haveing to shell out good money that he otherwise may or may not have spent a quick google showed that a pre registered 59 plate base model corsa can be had for £7500 so if he had not had said scraper he would mabe have plumped for something like that.the whole taxpayer stumping up is a bit off a sore point with some but most if not all off the 1k is paid back in taxes anyway. that means the other 3k came from the dealer or manufacturer anyway so if they can somehow afford to drop 3k on a base model corsa then why not just sell it to anyone for 3k less anyway that way scrapage would be virtually redundant as more people would be tempted by the honest priceing in the first place.
You fail again to see the point.1.) Brand new no previous owners zero miles Corsa £6000. You coose the colouyr you want, the trim colour you want, maybe a couple of options. To get this all you need to do is take in a worthless shitter. At the end of the day you are paying £6000 and not a penny more.2.) Or £1500 more for a pre reg one, and try and get 500 quid back for the Fuego. You deal with endless 'I'll think about it' wankers and you're STILL £1000 down on the deal on a pre reg car whose colour and trim you didn't get to choose. If you wanted a new Corsa to run around for the next 5 years, you'd have to be fucking mental to choose option 2.

Well just incase FD didnt see this reply at the begining here it is again

Yes that is very true i suppose sorry for sounding a bit off with you but scrapage just boils my blood :x

And to everyone else on the forum who may have taken offence then i will say a big SORRY to all members, sometimes i do get a bit worked up when an old motor goes to waste but thats just down to pure pashion deep within :roll:And to above post that corsa was found without looking hard no doubt a better deal could be found.

I don't know, I go away to Spain for a week and this happens,

As Mr_Bo1 said this is easily the worse thread I've seen on here so far, I know it's depressing this time of year with the dark nights and shitty weather but lets not start taking out our anger on other members.

FD was just doing his job, If it wasn't him who sold the Corsa it would of been someone else, The car was destined for scrappage regardless so why worry, There more old cars that are getting killed everyday by shit drivers crashing them or scraping them as they don't care for them which we don't know about so why kick off over this.

Chill out and and let this thread drop down the page, It's nearly Christmas after all!.

Well said Mr_Boll.The car is, after all, autoSHITE. Those of us that can see the beauty are still very much in the minority. In truth, there are still probably enough Fuegos kicking around that those of us that REALLY want one could have one each for not much more that a decent night out at a Berni Inn.If the Fuego, Sunny, Horizon, (insert favourite shite here) had sufficient intrinsic value to the wider world that they wouldn't fall victim to scrappage, we wouldn't be able to afford them. Can't have it both ways, I'm afraid. My own shite of choice is an excellent example of the breed, but I'd still struggle to sell it for much more than the Queens two grand :(

Fux sake this is easily the worst thread ever on AS, who wants to wade through 8 pages of this utter crap? I bet he wishes he'd never mentioned the fuggin fuego. This must be what happens naturally to forums as their membership grows, eventually weight of numbers just drags down the quality of what gets posted up as folk launch into boring and pointless half-informed arguments about f##k all. Then you have to wade through loads of shite before finding something interesting, (if you can be bothered that is). Then moderators have to start managing it all, and the whole thing becomes a load of pre-screened grey e-porridge.0.2/10

Spot on there imo, this has happened to several other large forums I use and they have become very boring as a result. Posting up on them is either like sitting an exam and replying to a thread becomes a bit like virtually treading on e-eggshells or something.FD is as much of an enthusiast as the next shiter, post away I say :)

That looks a nice car. Thing is though, even as a bit of a Rennerperv I can't get excited about Fuegos :? I'm thinking that for next year I'd quite fancy a sportyish coupe sorta thing but I can't get excited about Fuegos at all and far prefer the thought of a Prelude or something. Although Mrs L thinks she'd quite like an early Twingo so.....

fuego's are cool cars, i went from a scirocco to a fuego and the renault was full of kit compaired to the scirocco, had bucket seats, BBS alloys, electric windows, headlamp wash/wipe, but every time i looked at it i always think Porsche 924

I'm probably gonna be diving back into the depths of car sales shortly - as a salesman as opposed to a one-man-band. The scrappage scheme pisses me off immensely, but it gives me the opportunity to rid the world of some Astras ;-)Another point is this, when I bought my A6, the previous keeper seems to have filled in the date of transfer as 01/01/2009 and the logbook turned up with my name as the owner since that date even though the previous owner did a plate transfer off the car in August and it was in their name then and I declared myself as buying it in August when I had to apply for a new V5C, so I suspect this could be how they're getting round the scrappage thing. You could go out and buy any old heap of shit for a couple of hundred quid, pop the date of transfer back a year, send off the logbook, wait a couple of weeks, toddle off to your local main agent and claim ££££s for it as scrappage, provided you wanted a new car.

Potential can of worms though Pete.I wouldn't be too happy to sign a V5 off as having owned the car for 11 months when I hadn't just in case the previous owner was a bit of a shark or something.

Neither would I, but if you bought some old shitter that had been parked up for a year and just needed basic fettlage to get through a ticket it wouldn't worry me much ;-) Just make sure it's been SORNed.

The last time I transferred a car from my name to my wife's I didn't tick the Keeper box and the V5 came back with my wife's name down as having had it all the time I did. I'm not sure if that would work if the new keeper didn't have the same address though.

Jesus Christ what a long read! WVM you went to Spain, I went to Wales working and come back to a 10 page superthread picking on a bloke doing his job! Gotta say though posting a scrappage victim is a bit like banger racers showing us what they are going to trash, so what did FD expect? Look like he became a focus for the AS scrappage backlash for a bit. None of this makes me feel any better about scrappage.None of it helps me work out who's more to blame, the buyers (dealers) or the sellersRoll on February. Shame about the Fuego.....

well fred i did pre warn i was gonna post pics of the scrappage fuego, the intelligent posters comments were welcome, the nasty comments didn't bother me one bit,it did show how ignorant or stupid some people actually are.if any more interesting cars come in i will still post pics, but i did miss a sprint blue 20v turbo fiat coupe today on the transporter.one good thing came out of this though.my post count !

Fiatdaft you keep posting cos I for one find it interesting but sad too to see what the world will be losing. What about the 'Another srappage victim thread'? I have sat here and often said to myself how can some one do this to a car like that but such is life.On another thread it was asked why people sit in the background and not post very much, well I think this thread has been a prime example. I only post when I would like to say something and and don't use it as a general chat site, also I would hate some of the nasty things mentioned to be said to me. whilst im here, and probably opening myself up to abuse, I think a lot of swearing has crept in on this site too. I can swear as good as the rest of them but do you need it on a forum?I love this site and the interesting things that go on here so lets not spoil a good thing and lets all get on........All The Best to Everyone.
