Couple of nice pictures I came across recently, taken by an uncle of mine in Kenya in the 60s. Car is an A40 Devon (I think?) and some unidentifiable bikes:

More from Africa, Soweto this time in the 80s. The Mk1 GTI belonged to my uncle, he brought it back to the UK in 1988 and then on to Ireland a few years later. Interestingly enough when he brought it to Ireland it was erroneously registered on an '88 plate

Rekord C or D in blue in this last photo?

Apologies for the poor quality, I'm using a rubbish scanner app on my phone to crop and upload these and it does the originals no favours.

Me and my brother playing with toy cars, using the cement between the crazy paving as roads. My Budgie (bike) is behind me. My Dad is probably building the garage out of shot.

Not me in the background , but my father in I think 1989. Friend was getting married so we used my Daimler Sovereign 2.8 MOD as the wedding car. This is the morning of the wedding, I remember it started to miss when I started it, but it soon cleared thankfully. Had it a couple of years-nice car-bodywork was ok-the only thing was it was a bit sluggish even with the manual box, sold it and bought a P6 3500S which was a flying machine compared to it. Wish I'd kept both.

You can see the multicoloured 3500S in the background behind my Interceptor.

I've posted some of these on other threads but will limit the repeats and go digging for more to scan as a further instalment in due course.

1. Dad with cousin Dick in Swindon, probably 1940ish when he was based at RAF Wroughton hospital near Swindon for a few months. Cousin was in the navy and had presumably parked his ship in the local canal. Included because there's a car visible but it's not Dad's. He had to wait until 1955 for his first car.

3. Mum posing in an RAF Ambulance in 1946ish. She did not learn how to drive until after Dad died in 1986.

4. Dad's first car, a £20 1933 Austin 7, bought in 1955 while we were at RAF Little Rissington. Parked outside our* house, No 76 A.M.Q.

2. The same airman's married quarter in 1986 with my first Hyundai Stellar ('86). The house was demolished in the late 1990s. I tend to revisit the places I've lived and occasionally take photos.

5. A day out in Ashridge woods. Dad at the car (1954 Hillman Minx), Mum and brother in the foreground.

6. Grandad with his 1949 Vauxhall Velox L type. It was pale metallic green. He had it for many years until about 1968 when he died.spacer.pngspacer.pngspacer.pngspacer.pngspacer.pngspacer.pngspacer.png

Finally got some photos from mums.  Not going to do them all at once, but I'll make a start.

First off, Ma Sportys first car. Mini Clubman auto. For some reason, my grandad had fitted a loud exhaust when my grandma owned it.

20200514_220129.jpg

Next up, me with my first bike, RD80 LC. This was my 17th birthday.

20200514_213317.jpg

Next, not one of our cars, but a picture taken of the hovercraft we were about to board in September 1976.

20200514_205529.jpg

And finally for tonight, a picture of the car we boarded in. Fatha Sporty had the genius idea of making a roof rack to mount the trailer tent on, so we wouldn't have to pay extra on the hovercraft!

I rescued a 100a estate to try and save my ex's one in the early nineties, it flew for a little basic Datsun but rot and carb troubles sent it to the bridge ?

Gonna dig this up as I've got my first slice of tat photos.

These are from 1988.

Pictured is:
- my mum's first car, an Escort Popular Plus. My dad who was then almost 40 bought it and taught my mum (in her mid twenties) to drive in it, hence the L. It got broken into at one point and eventually was fucked off for a Metro like my aunt's. I think those are the only manual cars my mum ever drove, she has insisted on autos ever since, and I doubt I'll ever get her out of her auto Cooper S.

- my aunt's Metro, along with her (late twenties?)  and my dad (that jumper he's in was most likely from when he was an RAF flight engineer).

The Metro was replaced with a blue Fiesta 1.1L auto in 1992, F86KBU. She kept that car til it died of rot in about 2007. Was replaced with an 03 Fiesta that in turn was replaced with a Yaris last year.

Right, time to post a few more.

First off, a snap of the house I stayed in on a German exchange trip in 1984. Bonus VAG street furniture.

Next up, a trip to Southport in FATHA SPORTYS  Oldsmobile Starfire, when the exchange student came to us.

20200514_214535.jpg

And finally, for now, late 70s caravan holiday with FATHA  SPORTYS  Celeste.
