My grandad's BMW 323i Auto pictured in the background. I don't know who owned the Escrot but the E30 was last taxed in 2013! Possibly being dry-stored? Who knows!

An XD Falcon my Mum's family used for a holiday in Alice Springs back in 1982. Probably the most Australian picture you'll find on this thread:

I wonder what happened to the front license plate?

And here is the car after the orange respray, pictured in Ashburton, Devon. Personally I think the two-tone blue and grey looked better....

I was hoping you'd post one of it in orange, looks like a BL colour?

Very probably, as the garage opposite my Father's works was Elliott's, who were B.L. dealers at the time.

The second Triumph, this time a 2.5 Pi. Again, a family holiday, this time in Cornwall!

Thats me at the back with my little brother washing a 1930s Riley of some sort.  About 1965/6/7

Another, similar Riley, early sixties.  Probably my Uncle's.  (Every car he has ever had was for sale)

A friend's father was a miner in Geordieland, and similarly unable to get rid of things. The Morris Minor which he buried under the back garden of the family home is probably still there....

I think that was a 12/4 Facon, sadly it did not survive

The 1950's oval window and 63-64 Beetle would be worth a few pennies now, especially UK RHD

The yellow oval-window had been a bit squashed by a tree falling at that point. A few years earlier it had burned** after which it was hand painted yellow. It had hydraulic brakes, and was a bit posh compared to the LHD '49 split rear window it replaced, with it's cable brakes. That was hand painted red with "Jel-Gloss"

** The day after the fire.

Snooty neighbours were a bit dissapointed when Dad fixed it within a few days and then painted it in the street.

Always remember to replace the petrol pipe after maintenance!

And a split bus too! The split window Beetle would have been an unofficial import

A battered old Holden wagon that a few of my dad's work colleagues owned. Was decorated a bit to coverup various dents and scrapes, those HG/HK Holdens where pretty undesirable back in 1996:

Lovely 60s Super Minx.

Yeah I loved it to bits as a kid, I was really upset when it got sold and replaced by a 1500HL Dolomite.

There's a slim chance it still survives, it was resprayed light blue after we sold it, a late Superminx in light blue showed up in Rust in Peace years ago "in an Essex Hamlet" with a load of other Rootes cars according to the photographer. I managed to work out who he was by a Facebook post but he was sworn to secrecy about the location.

I've also been told by another shiter that the collection may be known to him but I haven't investigated further. Can't be many that shape, in a non-standard light blue, in the right area surely?

...or were you referring to my mum? 🤔

Me with my dad's Strada in the background, EUL511V I think, the second of three he had. Deja vu as we must have been in some sort of lockdown where obtaining a haircut was impossible....

Who needed a people carrier in 1990 to carry a family of four and a mountain of shite down to cornwall?

All you needed was a 60bhp italian stallion and a trailer about the same size of the thing that was pulling it.

Me in the bushes. Pre or post whizz. 20201119_184435.thumb.jpg.02a7a98ebdde9c6bb4e4739a87c9a577.jpg
