While I was out in my Tipo today, a white BX passed in the other direction - near Byfield.  I think it had a spoiler. The chap driving it, and his passenger, seemed to be looking intently at the dash rather than where they were going. Is that normal for a BX??.  It was nice to see one, nevertheless.

I have no idea. Hopefully one of our residen Citroen specialists will be along to clarify soon.

I'm not up on number plates, can you elaborate? Or show an example?

Fixed the interior light door switch. Still have to track down why the passenger side one doesn't work, the bulb looks OK.

Probably anticipating warning lights. Unless it was a BX Digit, in which case the digital display is worth watching anyway.

I thought that might be the case.  Interestingly, despite my having to accommodate their offside by a mild swerve - they were well over the central white line - I did not curse, just laughed. If it had been a modern SUV I'd have turned the air blue.

And Doc, your BX is looking very good. Nice one.

I was out in the DS today. Lovely whiz round the M25 and up the M3 in the sunshine. I had put my phone in the little cubby in the dashboard - next to the cluster with the big red stop lamp. The phone has a bright red cover and every time it caught the sun I had a small panic.

Car is at the garage today, getting glow plugs done. I didn't want to risk doing them myself!

That could have gone better. 

Just cycled (5 miles) up to collect the BX from the garage. Bike chain came off halfway there, and gears aren't quite lining up. Bearing in mind it's a brand new bike from Halfords. Urgh. 

Got there, paid and started the car up - doesn't seem any better tbh. 

Drove home, uneventfully, parked up, let the suspension down and wheeled the bike to its spot. As I was walking back to the car, I spotted what every boingy Citroen owner dreads.... 

Crap. 

Decided to investigate further, so put suspension on high. Couldn't see where it was coming from until I found this... 

Notice the problem? I found the pipe that is meant to be on here, and reconnected it. It didn't seem a tight fit. 

Should I be concerned? I let the suspension back down again and the pipe stayed attached. I'll research further, but I presume it's some sort of return for the LHM and the pressure popped it off and showered the RH strut etc in LHM. 

There's currently no drips coming from the bottom, so that's a good sign.

Only time lhm ever leaked from my xm was when a strut return pipe split at the end whilst up on the ramp during mot time. 

How we laughed*. Luckily my mate did tests then and after explaining its purpose, and it not being an oil leak (and whipping the remains of the pipe from the strut bit and pushing the hose back on it was forgotten about!

I hate to be the bearer of (slightly) bad news. But it shouldn't *need* a clip to retain the return hose, although it's not unheard of for people to fit them. A small amount of LHM is designed to leak past the seals, for lubrication, hence the return circuit. But what happens when things wear is that more and more leaks past, until the return circuit can no longer cope, and pipes blow off.

You'll probably be just fine with a clip for a good while, but I'd keep an eye out for a spare strut. I suspect the days when I was lucky to get £10 for one on eBay are long gone though! (Something else I should have hung onto!)
