It helps that the Uno was an almost new design rather than a reworked mid 1970s one.

The Fiestas rotted quick but the UNO was plain slapdash, I wouldn’t have hazarded either seeing 7-8 years out without a tickle with the welder.

I had one of these in 1992. Really fantastic car - lovely 6-cylinder engine. Great in estate form. One I regret selling.
