Here's a competition: You're a member of the Rust'n'Remoulds Mini Club (Uttoxeter) and you go in convoy to all the Mini clubs with your social misfit mates. How would you proceed to totally fuck over this nice Champagne beige HL? Bagsy I go first;

1.) Sport pack arches and a cheap 13 inch wheel and tyre Minilite rip offs.

2.) Black bonnet stripes.

3.) Union Jack roof.

4.) Four spotlights across the front.

5.) Inappropriate chome Austin style crinkly grille.

6.) "Sell my Mini? I'd rather shove wasps up my arse" sticker.

7.) "You're only supposed to blow the bloody doors off" sticker

8.) Garfield fluffy toy tie wrapped to the grille.

9.) Pair of horrid cheap bucket seats in bright blue.

10.) Mountney steering wheel.

11.) Clear lens rear lights.

12.) Call it 'Spanky' and go to all the Mini shows. Look like a retard.

Have I missed anything?

Drilled ally window winders and door handles!

100% BMW free sticker.

Don't forget "You've Been Mini'd" and some Cobra seats. And an entire drum of U-Pol in the rear quarter panels.

There's a RHD Mustang II Ghia up for 3 grand at "Next-Car-4-U" in Sudbury. It's overpriced, and I haven't seen it up close. I would suspect it would be either the woeful straight six or an emissions choked 302 (always a weak engine anyway). And it's brown with a white vinyl roof, also I suspect it's a sludge pumper.

I want it, bad.

Interesting...

Was part of Chilton Ford, then before that J & J Howlett who sold Datsun (hence me getting the Bluebird pictured outside it). Now, Jim Howlett had/has a MkII Mustang, and I'm sure it had a white roof. Coincidence, or his old car?

here's that beauty of a mustang - looks like it the landlords car from the write up...http://www.teletextcars.co.uk/vehicle-details/18270531http://www.teletextcars.co.uk/vehicle-details/18270531/url

Yup, that'd be it then. I think he was into Morris Minors as well. Best car I remember him having would be a brown 280C estate. Think he kept it for a fair old while, but I don't know if that's still in his collection or whether it rusted away.

.....Anyway back on topic, I'd also love a SWB Mk2 Transit, I've never been a massive Ford fan but I've loved these since they were current.

As ever it depends on timing...A decent tax-free Imp, with potential to tune to buggery and back.Failing that, any one of the following:A 5 door K-series Metro and then a 1.8 engine.A 2.3/2.6 SD1.A 5 door Pug 106 ~(the 5 door thing makes it easier to secure the doggy harness on the back seatbelts, as well as making the driver's door shorter too)A Lancia Beta coupé (2-door I know and hence less conventient esp. with the dog, but bugrit!!!)A Lancia Fulvia (but not the Zagato).

I just laughed my wadge off at all those Mini cliches, theres a Mini club in Crewe called 'Crewe's Missiles' where they love doing all that stuff. Drilled ally window winders LOL!

FFS, just let the bugger rust and it'll lighten itself.

I was selling a load of Mini parts on eBay yonks ago for a mate, it was largely desirable stuff like genuine walnut bits, but there was also a toss drilled alloy window winders/door pull set - I thought they'd get one failed listing at 99p and go in the bin, in the end they made about £20! Think they were scuffed too.I also recall selling some bent and slightly rusty alloy kickplates for a daft sum.

Chrysler Alpine. But I'm broke and trying to REDUCE my fleet at the moment, so it won't happen. Not now anyway. Maybe one day.

Datsun 160/180b Bluebird. I've just seen one in the background of an old music video and had forgotten how sexy they are. Pure private hire shite!!!

I'm suffering a hefty lob on for a BL wedge, best not get one though as I have got more than enoguhg dross to keep me busy for years. Oh and i fancy a pug 604 with an LPG bottle in the boot as well.

That's exactly the place. I stopped at the next door Texaco to stock up on super unleaded and Camels and by coincidence pulled up at the pump on the edge of the forecourt overlooking that dealer.

The Mustang is given pride of place indoors, unlike the rest of the stock and appeared in good condition from what I could see. I thought it was brown, but it must have been a trick of the light.

For a RHD 5.0 litre that's not too bad on the price.

What makes it weapons grade shite is one simple fact: that particular Mustang is not only the lowest powered v8 variant ever sold; it is also the lowest powered v8 ever made by Ford USA. 120 glorious BHP. That's 24 Hp per litre! Which must mean one of the lowest specific outputs ever. Seriously those things used to struggle to get to 80, with a small block v8. It's ludicrous, the v8 was actually less powerful than the early Cologne v6 variants. And I still want it.

That'll be two of us then, Mr B. As I've just flogged the P6, I need to fill the space with something weird and wafty, although I suppose I should really just fix the other Rovers..

Not all that exciting for you European gents, I know, but for me it would have to be an Alfa 164. Few here in the States and expensive as all hell to keep on the road (worse because of the shortage of spares).

If we're talking Murcan metal though, I've always lusted after these Corvette V8-powered beheamoths:

You could actually buy a late Mini Cooper new and have these as an option, also John Cooper Garages sold them. Alot of old fashioned motor factors used to sell the plastic door openers because cack-handed mini drivers used to snap them alot hence another reason why the drilled alloy ones became popularse, they used to be quite well made and cost a fair bit but now they're made cheap and shit.

They're just buff aren't they? Sadly if 10 people wanted one, there wouldn't be enough to go round. I've just bought a 1975 CAR mag off Ebay with a Citroen CX2000 - BMW 518 - Wolseley Wedge group test. All three would do it for me......I'll let you know which one wins. :D

I have always had a desire to own an Strada Abarth 130 TC. In red. Or a Lancia HPE VX. Or an Uno Turbo i.e. but it must be a Mk1. My local FIAT dealer used to throw me out regularly when I was a kid.

In fact, now I've spoken to the chap selling it, this exact car. It's local, had two owners from new, low mileage. I'm even faintly excited about it having a Suffolk 'RT' registration, not the usual Toyota GB pre-registration thing. Price is a little high and he's struggling to sell it, but I'm not in a position to haggle with him for another month or two. Don't really want to have to sell the Bluebird to fund it.

Other cars that have recently come up for sale, and/or I'm hoping might still be available soon, include that white R30 Skyline hatchback, the LPGed JDM Laurel taxi that's now only £750, a Bluebird SSS coupe and my old brown Starlet.

All very much attainable if I can save a little bit, once expenditure on house refurbishment slows up a bit.

Nice. 2.2 ? But what's that I spy in the background ? :)

Those Camrii are well nice, they look very purposeful. Background spot is Spotted's Laurel :DI quite fancied a W210 Mercedes the other week, so i'm now slugging about in an E320 :)
