trigger Posted October 22, 2019 Posted October 22, 2019 I'm not sure if it's been posted before but today i discovered that Sainsbury's have archived each store online so that you can view media about them, and it's a treasure trove! https://www.sainsburyarchive.org.uk/branch/branches/ I've picked a few from my local stores so far. Hadleigh Road in Ipswich 1992. Warren heath Ipswich 1985. Any ideas what this car is?. Daf maybe? Spiny Norman, BlankFrank, NorfolkNWeigh and 35 others 34 4

Spottedlaurel Posted October 22, 2019 Posted October 22, 2019 That's great! I lived around the corner from Hadleigh Road so was a regular there. Difficult to believe how old the cars look for it being 1992-on. As an older store, I was interested to what Upper Brook Street had to offer: sheffcortinacentre, greengartside, HMC and 8 others 11

Shep Shepherd Posted October 22, 2019 Posted October 22, 2019 Some early 1980s views of the Dover branch of Sainsbury's, which until the Deal branch opened in the late 1990s, was the nearest one to where I grew up in east Kent. It only lasted from 1980 to 1992, as the Tesco which opened just outside the town in 1988 killed it: The big void behind the 305 in the third photo was eventually filled by the Charlton Centre, which was conceived as a small-but-perfectly-formed shopping centre, but is something of a 'dead mall' these days. Apparently, Sainsbury's still owns the leasehold of the building it was located in, even though it's been empty since the mid-2000s. Such is Dover. Skizzer, HMC, trigger and 5 others 8

Same here, trying to look for Colchester Tollgate but not getting anywhere. Thanks for posting the Suffolk ones Trig, that's what car parks looked like when I was young. Lots of nice local registrations too!

I'm the same, struggling to find anything for the Swansea branch that opened in the late 80's, but I suppose they're may just not be many files???

sheffcortinacentre Posted October 22, 2019 Posted October 22, 2019 Is that white fiat coupe with L plate the same one exiting stage right in the earlier street scene?
Cavcraft Posted October 22, 2019 Posted October 22, 2019 This thread is class, is that actually a 1.3 base Mk4 Cortina in the second set of pictures?
