mat_the_cat Posted July 27 Posted July 27 A friend of mine is trying to join, and although they get the security questions right (and Cloudflare says success) they did not pass the security check. They've tried several different browsers including incognito mode; also from Android and Windows with the same results. The same problem with the Rover going bust question. Any suggestions please? They're trying to use yugofan as their username.

yugofan Posted July 28 Posted July 28 Thanks for your help - I'm now in. I thought I'd reached that stage in life where I'd have to ask my kids for help with the registration process! SiC, beko1987, Rust Collector and 5 others 6 1 1
yugofan Posted July 30 Posted July 30 Could I ask how long my posts will need to be approved for please? It seems like an awful lot of work for someone, although I understand the reasons.

Basically it's there to stop any potential new accounts (especially automated bots) posting crap all over the forum. The time to having a message approved depends entirely what mods are online. If none then it will be when they next go on. If some are around, it could be seconds. yugofan 1

loserone Posted July 31 Posted July 31 Has there been any discussion about the OSA? Do we need a CRA?

I am no legal expert, however, from what I understand the age tests are related to the amount of visitors a website receive from the UK. Thus As is going to be below any requirement .

bunglebus Posted August 19 Posted August 19 Is there any way of knowing the exact time a post was made, or a message was sent? For example if you're selling something and you get a reply and a PM at around the same time, so you need to know which was first.

I think it might be possible to change globally. However iirc it was set that way as many people are posting during the day when perhaps they shouldn't be looking at their phone and should be working. So they rather not have readily visible public evidence of such behaviour 😄 Thus I don't think it should be changed. High Jetter 1

I'd give them preference, if seen before post I think.
SiC Posted August 19 Posted August 19 The search server (ElasticSearch) has just crapped its pants. It's been a very long time (year or two) since it's done that last! No idea why but I'm giving it the old turn it off/turn it on and rebuild search index treatment that hopefully will fix it.
SiC Posted August 19 Posted August 19 Everything is now restarted. Hopefully the unplanned interruption wasn't too annoying. Search is now reindexing, it'll take a few hours. Probably by midnight it should be fully complete. Until then the search will not show all threads and also stuff like "Content I have started" might not work properly. nomiST and High Jetter 2

I did find an answer, doesn't work on the app but on the web version you hover the mouse pointer over the "posted X hours ago" bit, it shows this info: SiC 1
