eBay tat volume 3.

This crock of shit has reappeared.

$_35.JPGIt's the old "bought to complete, don't have time thing", which in plain English normally means, either a) I bought this for a laugh while I was exceptionally pissed, or B) I bought this, thinking it was gonna be easy, but it's not and it's very presence makes me want to rub my clackers on a cheese grater.

£1250. No bids.

**Edit, is that a Focus VAN behind it? **

Oh, that's sad. That's lived in Ashton Village not far from Conrad D for ages. I swear that's the one I saw full up outside my primary school when I was 4. I'll check the reg plates when I get in. 99 per cent that's the same car.

Will let the IPTOC know.

Yup, same car. It's stayed in good fettle. Here's what it looked like in 2008. Bloke was trying to sell it then, he must have let it go at some point recently.

That's a surprise, it's been a fixture at the end of my street for as long as I can remember.

I know! The only time I ever saw it come out of that car port was when he parked it on the road in 2008 and tried to sell it. I never saw it on the street again. The IPTOC knew about it then and I've just pinged Clive an email to let him know.

Bloody hell! a fester with the 1.6 diesel! I thought they'd all gone. I had one back in the day, actually quite peppy as whilst the engine has little power the mk2 fiesta weighs about the same as a bean tin. would

Age related fucked bonnet hinges - they silt up, rust then buckle with all the shit they pick up from the road and lack of lube by owners who think maintenance is something that happens to other people.

We used to have one of those fiesta's but the van version . It was red (pink) too . 50mpg was a very conservative estimate by the seller , ours was regularly at 60 plus.

I also had an ex MOD escort mk4 3dr estate with that engine and went from Cornwall to Aberdeen ( and back ) with it and AVERAGED 64MPG !!!!

Slower than Moses dog mind

yes, funnily enough mine did that too. more worrying was the cracks in the inner wings on both sides just aft of the suspension turrets, it looked like the engine was too heavy for the car. this one looks good though

'They don't go into 'limp mode''

It's a 208D, they're permanently in limp mode. Also changing gear in these is like sticking your knob in a BFO bucket of Scammell wheelnuts and trying to move them round a lot.

That's a late one of those Merc vans.

Still can't see why it hasn't rusted to buggery yet though.

Ahh old merc gearchanges , so slow that when you are on a hill by the time you can select a gear you need the next one down anyway.

They are mechanically indestructable though.

You just wish it would blow up to add some exitement to the journey

Because it's been partly done up (new wings and paint) and also because it hasn't sat outside a house in Rhyl overloaded with 5p-to-make-£8.99-to-buy-at-Beeston-market clothes. Or HIABED off to Nigeria.

There were no keys with the car but I understand the lockset is basically the same as the little Fiats? Therefore the car can't be started and the steering lock is on too. One the rear wheels is seized (I'll have go at freeing it) and the tyres are completely shot, I dare say other parts will be similar.[....]Obviously no MOT and no other documents at all.

Sounds GR0.1. Left hooker too which makes it even better

I wonder if that Merc 208D is the same minty looking one I saw on the back of a short red car transporter yesterday?  Not often you see them without scabby bits.

Looks like someone died in the drivers seat of the Allegro.
