Nice, but front wheel drive!

Yes those old 1300 cars have the engine on top of the gearbox. Error corrected, thanks

IIRC you could get 1300 & 1500's both in FWD then RWD before the Toledo and Dolomite ranges.  I had a FWD TC that went pretty damn well, same year and colour as that.

Yeah, the original FWD 1300 was facelifted and split into two models, the RWD 1300 Toledo and the FWD 1500 (with longer boot).

Then all subsequent new variations combined RWD with the longer boot body, starting with the (1850) Dolomite, then Dolomite Sprint, then a new 1500 Dolomite.  Finally the Toledo was replaced by a 1300 Dolomite.

As usual, AROnline have the fuller story.

Yup, but there was a 1500 RWD too, I have parts catalogues for both 1500 FWD & RWD, in addition to (and prior to) Toledo & Dolomite.

Yes, I missed one out! The FWD 1500 was replaced by the RWD 1500TC, then in turn replaced by the Dolomite 1500.

Barn/other find Unregistered Ford Fiesta Ghia 2001 With 5 Miles Only

Quote

Supplied directly from Ford in Dagenham to a private school in Glasgow as a teaching aid for the students to learn basic vehicle maintenance. It has never been driven on the public roads and was stored inside until the syllabus was changed a few years ago when it was no longer required. It was then stored outside.

Was it the Toledo that had the starter ring gear on the,"wrong" end of the engine?

The fwd cars had that feature. Very noisy starter! This picture of the powertrain is looking from the front. Starter Bendix just to the left of the ring gear.
