I owned this car a number of years ago (around 2014-2015 I think).  It is (or at least was) an incredibly solid ado16 with poor paint.  The elephant in the room (which I was aware of when buying, and made clear when selling) was that it had had a front corner accident in the past, and the front of the inner wing on that side still bore the evidence.  It had had a new front wing and front panel after the accident, which is presumably when the paintwork all went a bit pear shaped.  Other than the accident repairs it hadn't had any welding to that point.  Apart from the paintwork the arches look pretty good in the photos to me, and I doubt it has deteriorated much overall.  If it's still around when (if) my house sale completes I'd be tempted to have it back!

Interesting, thanks for clearing that up.... well, in that case it looks like a potentially cheap way into ADO16 ownership!

Fully expect to see this with super single front tyres and a light up 'V*' badge in the back of the cab doing 85mph down the A55 one day.

Don't complain there aren't any cheap little runabouts left.

In Spainshire unfortunately, but I believe it is worth the trip.  Anyone got up to date information on importing from Spain?  I haven't ever bought from Spain, or anywhere since Brexit.

I believe the Spanish side of the paperwork is still the same.

It will be the paperwork for the UK that will have changed.

Note the images of the documentation, that I used in the post have all been removed for some reason.

Cobalt blue, iirc. Had an automatic one of these in the same colour/trim.

Correct on Cobalt blue, a lovely colour only available  for one year. The trim spec is even more rare,  York fabric was only used in GL trim for a month or so before the ‘81 model came out with a much more luxurious Durham and crushed velour trim. My dad had a 1.6 GL in midnight blue with blue York trim PBF 617W.  I loved it as it was a huge improvement on the 1.3L Escort it replaced.
