Viva X14 - had a list of 14 fairly mundane extras. Apparently around 6,000 made, mainly with 1256cc engine & manual box, though 1800 auto seems to have been an option.

img873.jpg2..jpg

The 14 extras were:

1:Rostyle Sports Wheels

2:Radial Tyres

3:Servo Brakes

4:Front Disks

5:Heated Rear Screen

6:Reverse Lights

7:Cloth Trim

8:2 Speed Wipers

9:Electric Screen Washers

10:Hazard Warning Lights

11:Cigarette Lighter

12:Rear Wheel Arch Spats

13:Choice of Three Colours:Sunspot, Emerald Starmist & Sapphire Starmist

14:Twin Coachline

Most of them seem to have been this yellow colour - not seen a blue one before, or a green one

This is currently at £3,200 with 3 days to go. Not bad considering he bought it for £50

I did ask on the Imp Club site at the time whether or not they offered more than £50 when they realised what it was but did not get a reply. Suppose its the sellers fault for not selling it for more but the 'kept in a garage for sentimental reasons' may well have givem me a twang of guilt for taking it for so little.

A local lad got one the same as that (his had no wheeltrims though) off his elderly uncle for a first car. He stuck whacking great 555 stickers down the sides and it was one of the more saddening things I've ever seen.

That's brilliant! :D I thought that kind of grossly out-of-proportion drawing on the front of brochures died out in the early '60s...

"The engine will be back in the car by the end of the auction"

Why was it removed? Is it the same engine going in or is the seller robbing that to put on his other Imp?

The seller had been running the engine in his other Imp since buying this, but is returning it to the original car for the new owner.

Either way, I'm jealous.

Crack is a terrible drug. This guy is obviously smoking crack cos he's looking for £8600 for an RX-8.

Admittedly, this one is rocking a Nissan RB25DET engine so nothing's gonna go BOOM. But still...

Toyota Caldina GT. "Virtually the same as a Celica GT4" apparently. GR8 4 a spot of minicabbing at the weekend.

But why buy that thing when you can get an actual Celica GT4 for two grand less?

OK, I'm showing my age here (or lack of it), but what was the big deal with radial tyres, fag lighters or servo brakes back then that they were seen as "extras".

That ad even had the word "extras" in quotation marks - did they know they were taking the piss or what?

Am I alone in finding the misery of owning one of these again stragely appealling? This looks a tidy one at the 300 sods its currently fetching with a decent chunk of tax and test...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/UNIQUE-BESPOK ... 5d33f39a07

Bespoke: (English pronunciation: /biˈspoʊk/ ( listen)) is a British English word meaning an item made to a buyer's specification (personalized or tailored). While it is applied to many items, including computer software and luxury cars, the term historically was applied only to men's tailored clothing, footwear and other apparel, implying measurement and fitting.

Twatterage: (English pronunciation: /twatt are idge/ (don't look) is a word for British English cars that have had garish buoy raycer 'accessories' stuck or nailed on, or holes drilled into wings for no discernible reason, also hopelessly pointless splitters

Splitter: Woman, police informant, worthless piece of shit tacked onto an old duffer's car in a vain attempt to make it look more street.

Street: Usually preceeded by a high number and followed by 'away from your house' to indicate where you would have to keep this car if you owned it.

In my day we were grateful for wheels and an engine, youff of today never had it so good ;)

That Nova is actually something of a bargain. An earlier 1.3SR would be fetching far more money, but these won't be behind for too long. It's probably not been snapped up as yet because the advert is bleeding hopeless, but for a taxed and tested, reasonably straight SR that's damned good VFM.

You only get eight of the 14 "extras" on a Viva E, which came out three years later.

No door mirrors, heated rear screen, reversing lights, hazard light, fag lighter.

And compare that with an Escort Popular - no carpet, only one sun visor, vinyl seats, Ford Anglia hub caps, no chrome bumpers or trim etc.

The cars were basic. But we were happy...

"Fully recommissioned" but no MOT and needs a brake master cylinder ... not quite fully done then is it?

£1500 with a v8 Rover lump in it, it doesn't seem like a bad proposition even if it has a 3spd autobox and hydrogas fitted.

If it does I'm deleting my thread, and hot footing it to ebay. You lot know nothing ok?
