£6,000

'THIS VAN WILL ONLY GO UP IN VALUE'

Why, are you going to put £1,500 in fifty pound notes in each tyre every year?

These are fantastic, especially if they have the full fat B16 engine and a working transexualtop.

I had one.

Briefly.

So many memories.

The brakes catching fire on the trip home from collection.

The cooling system exploding on the A90

An entire section of the exhaust falling off in Perth town centre when i was there to pick up an entirely different exhaust section, which i had to carry home with it hanging out the back window, with much amused looks on the drive home

Disintegrating door handles

Fog lights that would flash at everyone every time you changed into 4th, because your elbow would operate the switch.

The 30 seconds you'd need to wait to access the boot for it to raise electrically.

The £2400 estimate from the MOT station when it needed every fucking bit of the suspension replaced and Honda said they were all needed to be imported from Japan.

But when it was working, it was genuinely brilliant and scarily quick when you wound it up.

Especially when you had an example like mine.

Top bike porn right there. Mine ate rear tyres in about 1,800 miles and sometimes did 17mpg when really thrashed.

My GT550 did around 18mpg, not bad seeing that it had a Piper 3 into 1 on it, and it sounded great when revved to buggery. Never sure what tyre wear was like as I had an inexhaustible supply of very cheap Avons from a breaker in Luton,  so just changed the rear when it was worn out.

I fitted mine with a 650 Katana tank, seat and side panels for some reason. Then my mate twatted it into a car, and abandoned it in his sisters garden with knackered forks, tank and headlight.

Surpringly, seeing the life it had in my hands, checking the DVLA website shows it is both MOT'd and taxed.

My mate had a 550 with a Piper, too. You could literally hear it coming from miles away, and it crackled/popped when rolling off the throttle.

The car is still French registered although it has a UK MOT until November.

How did they get that? MOTs are on a computer base the reg could not be entered.

Besides it is of no legal value.

The car has 79,670 miles on the clock so that’s about 47,800 miles!
