They were also available with a (transversely mouted!) 2.0 straight 6, but they sold about 2 of those here.

Most were diesel and started their lives on the taxi rank.

This looks decent value - Connoisseur SE Nav diesel, very much like mine except you have to change gear yourself like a peasant.

These MK2 Mondeo saloons are completely disproportionate and ungainly, but all the more interesting because of that. Almost as if they were simply created to fill a slot in markets where hatchbacks aren't king. Bonus points for being a 2.5 Ghia X.

Ah the Epica...

I've always hunkered after the, what I can only assume is unicorn spec (as never seen), petrol. As 6 cylinder and powering the front wheels. Also they are rather big things if memory serves me right from the single time I recall seeing one.

Was taken off the road as it needed a new cambelt 8 years ago

Mileage from new is 103,000.

I haven’t tried to start it as I’m sure the belt would let go but it was all running fine when parked up.

I don't know what to think. Sounds like bull shit to me.

I'm not sure why anyone would want the manual version of this car. But hey.

*By posting that up, in no way do I condone, encourage or accept Morris Marina ownership. E&OE expected.

I believe Pilots were XUD from the start.

Yup - even the LDV-badged 200s were XUD.  Later Pilots were DW8.
