I had to Google this.

The spectacularly unsuccessful rotary engined Mazda Roadpacer Anti Pollution from 1975.

A 1.5 ton 1300cc car which did 9mpg.

Based on the Holden Premier, looks a bit like a FE Victor if you screw your eyes up and look at it from the next room.

What a find :-)

Wonder what they were like to drive. Reportedly very little torque so must have just been all revs all the time. Nice. Automatic trans too. Presumably (hopefully) 3 speed rather than 2.

At one point someone with a lot of power must have said "Hey, stop what you're doing, let's build these instead".

Asking price is $59,950 NZ dollars. Is that a lot? Fuck knows.

Quote from Wiki

"Most were sold to government departments and were later crashed, meaning Roadpacers are rare nowadays".

Sounds like a fun job for a Monday. Gizzajob, I can do that.

I've had a search set for one of these for months - very very few ever come up now.

Still, after the luck Barrett had with that Auto Clio last yr - I'll pass.

Also, nice shit stain on the drivers seat.
