This genuinely looks like like a great buy. Top spec, good service history, recent clutch, recent timing belt, recent battery and looks in great condition.  £695. Just wait, it'll be in a white room with three grand added to the price soon.

They let their servants sit on fabric seats!

Disgraceful- I thought they all had leather whilst the posh folk had the comfy cloth.

That's why they lost an empire.

This is probably the Lotus Elite I should have bought - lagoon blue, manual, slightly scruffy but MOTd and working.

Unless it doesn't have a galvanised chassis, in which case it's the catastrophe I happily dodged.

Hang on - I've spotted a sunroof.  Run away!

If certain other factors were different I'd be seriously tempted, but I must resist as I need to spend money on sorting he house.

Whenever I see something like this it bums me out because I can picture the clueless old giffer owner getting totally shafted by their insurance company - 'car of that age, sir, that'll be a write off' - and just capitulating, when most old car people know you can quite easily ensure your car isn't an I surname wrote off just by standing ones ground.

But, this old shitter was in the concours at the Festival of the Unexceptional last week which suggests at least a modicum of interest from the owner. So, what's happened? It has absolutely no visible damage whatsoever but sadly looks destined to rot in Copart purgatory forever more. Shame.

The lot ended in May, so don't worry.

It did break down on the way out though. I only know as the super helpful RAC guy was sorting it before he could help my crud Alfa.

It could be the owner just selling it via copart rather than going through insurance. Copart do get some really good prices so if he was trade it would of been worth a try.

That'll teach me to pay more attention. As you were chaps

The buyer/rescuer of that Renault 16 was Angrydicky’s mate Ed, very occasionally of this parish, who some might also remember having a lovely Wolseley landcrab at the first Shitefest chez Six Cylinder. It’s in good hands.
