Squire Dawson told me something always breaks on these, I can't remember what.

I don't care anyway. I want one.

The six cylinders had a fibre timing  gear which regularly failed - was probably installed to quieten the engine but the tech was not up to it. Most I'd assume replaced with a metal one. These smaller engines may also suffer with this. Beautifully engineered car but a bit 'fussy and slow' but great for puttering about. A relative failure when on sale. All summed up in Roads to Oblivion - an excellent book on how it all began to go wrong with the UK motor industry in the 50's. Lord Nuffield's house - he owned Wolseley - is owned by the National Trust really worth a visit - he was a great guy and gave many millions to charity particularly medicine. A real engineer - he even had a workshop by his bedroom. Still there. Book:

So £700 tops private sale?  Only because of the nicest colour they ever did in these.  Still a lot of motor and you get the renown 2.2DCi chocolate engine too

I had 4/44 - 4 cylinders and er...44 mph. Again lovely engineering but s l   o    wwww. Certainly does not need an 'engine transplant' tho.
