...at the time the most powerful US car made.

It is not, but for being merely 10 hp short, it only costs a fraction of what an example of the most powerful '55 US car would set you back.

Am aff it

Just think, if you'd bought that Gooner 3 at Wilson's all those years ago, then the panda would seem a sensible choice

It probably would have worked out better as I'd have scrapped the gooner quicker and got it over with.

The Packard is a 6.2 V8 - I think about 270-300bhp on a 2100kg car. Not sure what was the most powerful US car made at the time - but I think this is the most powerful saloon? Studebaker also used the engine in their Golden Hawk. There were about 3000 Patricians made in '56.

Not tat - this is the last of the real Packards on Ebay- it had their new V8. By this time they had disastrously amalgamated with the failing Studebaker. This example is not pricey for what it is - about compatible with a US example. Needs a big garage and goes without saying thirsty. But real quality and at the time the most powerful US car made.

A new one to me, this. But at £9k BIN quite a bargain surely? Must be a better place for my savings than the Bank.

And isn't Patrician a wonderful name for it? I'd feel like Queen, Pope and Dictator wafting around in my Packard Patrician!

Selling my Maserati runs fine , not even registered it yet , came in from Japan nearly 2 years ago , never been put on the road here , in dark green . Automatic . Showing 47,000 kms , I would like it gone now as not used it

Who buys a Maserati.... who imports a LHD Maserati and never uses it???

Maybe I’m a scumbag, but I thought that a woman selling an imported Maser seems strange, I googled her phone number. She sells a lot, a shit ton of vehicles... and a horse.

In conclusion, what could possibly go wrong?

The 1955 senior Packards had 290 hp. The new Chrysler 300 had 300, hence the model designation.

The engine Studebaker used in the 1956 GH was the Packard 352, not the 374 of the 55-56 big Packards.

Since Packard engine production stopped altogether after 1956, the subsequent Golden Hawks came with

Studebaker 283s fitted with McCulloch superchargers, rated the same 275 hp as the 352 Packard was.

I'm a terribly sad anorak.
