eBay tat volume 3.

I've had lots of aircooled VW engines and with a quiet exhaust they sound fine. If cared for they're incredibly reliable too, it's just the market for rubbish parts and the fact that many owners don't have a clue makes them break down. Rebuild a Rover V8 engine with the best components money can buy by a bloke who fully understands what he's doing and things will go badly wrong.

EFA.

I want to see the "mother" who owns it.

Don't come back without having papped her when you collect it!

Hopefully she's not like Norman Bates' mother

Turbo dizzler Mk1 Master.  If it isn't terminally rotten underneath this probably isn't a bad buy for a monkey.  It is probably terminally rotten underneath though.

OMG! I had one of these back in the seventies. They are brilliant. Separate reverse gearbox so you can change gear going  backwards. How cool is that. 65mph backwards if you can handle it. Fuel economy is crap. 12 mpg. All the electrics are waterproof so you can go as deep as the snorkel which attaches to the hole behind the front wheel.

My girlfriends dad seriously wants that 45 above. It looks pretty woeful for fuel economy but he seems adamant.

I did send him a link for an 820 auto knowing he has a bit of a weak spot for 800s...

I like it too but I'm not sure I could live with The Fear of OMGHGF.

Wait a minute - I always thought Rover named their cars according to the average age of their target demography,

i.e. 25 for 25 year olds, 45 for 45 year olds and 75 for 75 year olds?

Are there 45 year old giffers?

Posted

I was going to say I had a 45 at age 20 and a 75 at age 22, so that makes me a very early starting giffer, but then realised that everything I've owned has been a giffer fave - Micra, Metro, 25, 45, 75, Kia Rio, Fiat Pandas.

Suzuki Celeriac next, driven at no more than 19 MPH anywhere.

Lad at work with zero spannering experiemce did a headgasket on his doom blue 200 3 or 4 years ago with borrowed tools, ebay parts and instruction from a few youtube videos. He did have encouragement and advice from a couple of old shite-fondlers, but we didn't touch his car.

He's still driving it too, don't think it has been washed since.

So no excuses.

You can kiss my bum, Iveco

I remember long ago another starry night like this

In the warning lights, Iveco

Your gearbox was humming to yourself and electrical problems are bizzarre

I could hear the brake drums

And sounds of RAC engines were coming from afar

They were closer now Iveco

Every hour every minute seemed to last eternally

I was so afraid Iveco

You were shit and full of life and about to expire electrically

And I'm not ashamed to say

The roar of guns and cannons would make me dead happy

There was something in the air that night

The front wheels most like, Iveco

the recovery light's for you and me

It's the RAC, Iveco

Though we never thought that we could win

There's lots of regret

If I had to buy a van again

It would NOT, my friend, be Iveco

There was something wrong with the brakes that night

They're fucking shite, Iveco

They weren't working there for you nor me

so I hit the tree, Iveco

Though we never thought that we could win

There's lots of regret

If I had to crash a van again

It would be you, you c*nt,  Iveco

Yeah, and the fording depth is only limited by the level of the nose of the driver.

The entire electrickery is within a tubing system that's perfused by warm air and each instrument has a glass cover with a rubber seal.

I never really saw the point of armour plating the engine and not the driver.
