When did you last see 1?

Thanks God it's been a while. But it wasn't bogey on spinach coloured.

I wouldnt worry about driving this anywhere, any distance.

Me neither, it's the being seen arriving with it bit that concerns me.

Excellent on fuel, i get at least 50mpg with mixed driving through Birmingham each day.

Yeah, if you would tune it properly I bet you could unload surplus petrol at the station instead of filling it up.

Hmmm

'Could be a simple fault' from the seller with an interesting* selling history littered with cars/parts.

Dodgy as fook that Beetgro, regd as a 1200 as well with a bigger engine to fiddle road tax! Needs a skip dropping on it, with it's creator strapped in it. Engines prone to overheating, and snapping camshafts and dropping valves, going by reports from Veedub apologist & Youtube Veedub fiddler Mustie1, nearly every one he's touched has had all these faults

At least it has the correct engine in the correct place.

I am going to see the mid engined one on sunday. It had a nice clean mot history until he decided to cut it up and put a caddy engine in. Fingers crossed he has kept some of the original metalwork to put it back to normail or stick an Audi tdi lump in it

ruined...

why put the worse petrol engine known to man in to what looks like a tidy Allegro??

just, ruined...

I dunno what's worse, that it exists or that people are actually bidding thousands on the POS.

come on yu've got to give the guy some credit for originality at least, he could have just bought a beetle, lowered it and chucked a shopping trolley full of shit on the roof like all the others

I think it's pretty cool - besides couldn't you change it to a Wasserboxer or something?

You can kiss my bum, Iveco
I remember long ago another starry night like this
In the warning lights, Iveco
Your gearbox was humming to yourself and electrical problems are bizzarre
I could hear the brake drums
And sounds of RAC engines were coming from afar

They were closer now Iveco
Every hour every minute seemed to last eternally
I was so afraid Iveco
You were shit and full of life and about to expire electrically
And I'm not ashamed to say
The roar of guns and cannons would make me dead happy

There was something in the air that night
The front wheels most like, Iveco
the recovery light's for you and me
It's the RAC, Iveco
Though we never thought that we could win
There's lots of regret
If I had to buy a van again
It would NOT, my friend, be Iveco

There was something wrong with the brakes that night
They're fucking shite, Iveco
They weren't working there for you nor me
so I hit the tree, Iveco
Though we never thought that we could win

There's lots of regret
If I had to crash a van again
It would be you, you c*nt,  Iveco

I don't know what Cavcraft's talent is with this stuff, it doesn't even have a name. But it's fucking brilliant

Another spit tea moment brought to you by Cavcraft.

Having driven an Iveco for 5 years makes it funnier.

They are that shit. (No E)

You have never been in love,
Until you've seen a Vectra,
In a bukkaki reservoir

And you have never been in love,
Until your cars has been dumped,
Behind the home for the blind

And you're standing in our street...

...Where Vectra wasn't the first of the gang
waiting for a HIAB to hand
and Vectra wasn't the first of the gang to die

V8 Corvair conversions (not with 500 cube Cadillac engines though)

I still can't decide if I love or hate it. Certainly looks well done, but pointless. Would be an awesome sleeper with a 911 or Impreza engine though.

But it would still handle like a beetle.

Worse than an allegro?

Would be a short fun blast into the nearest field. Assuming you would be going fast enough to clear the ditch.

(reminds me, there was an ol'boy round here known as "Jump Dyke" after an incident involving a Hillman Avenger I think!)

Can't quite make out how the VW flat four is the worst engine ever when there's plenty of perfectly usable unrebuilt 70s ones out there, meanwhile the forum is full of tales of "they all do that Sir" on Renault's, K-Series, TCDIs and stuff.

Bloody love that Alleetle.

I think some people (me included) regard the noise of a VW flat 4 as an assault on the ears where to others it is mechanical music.

Like most flat four engines they have a shit exhaust system which is solely resposible for that awful uneven throbby sound. With a proper four into one exhaust they sound like any other four cylinder engine (plus the whirry fan noise)

I've had lots of aircooled VW engines and with a quiet exhaust they sound fine. If cared for they're incredibly reliable too, it's just the market for rubbish parts and the fact that many owners don't have a clue makes them break down. Rebuild a Honda Civic engine with dodgy components by a bloke who can't understand what he's doing and things will go badly wrong.

There's a huge amount of work gone into that Allegro Beetle which is impressive, and if the builder wants to do something high profile to get himself noticed he's done a fine job.
