Admittedly it's taken about 17 days to find a picture of a standard one on the internet,

Anyone else noticed that pic is flipped?

it's a shame that a Metro had to die for this car,

Yes it absolutely is, and that would be enough for me to avoid the seller.  Even if I had any money, lol...

'Dogwank & Spunkfuddle are proud to present this one bedroomed detached in a popular costal resort. With a southerly aspect facing Heightlimit and grounds extending to 1/3rd of an acre, one bedroom (en-suite) in need of modernisation and with fucking awful traffic links, 'Leyland Daft' is an excellent choice for first time buyers and idiots alike. OIRO £1,250'

£1100 montego, once owned by Russ Swift (according to the ad) who did the stunt driving for the original BL telly ad for these when they were new.

funny look to the interior though, maybe its been pictures in a funny light, or it just needs a bloody good clean? which given how the outside of the car looks would be even stranger.....

I had one, same colour too. They are ok, not the underpowered slug you'd expect. twin carbs take the O series to 101 bhp and they'll sit at motorway speeds nay bother. I suspect it will be a very limited market of people who actually want a 2000, now as in when it was current, its completely overshadowed by the V8 ones.

which is why i would rather have a 2000 over a V8..... but i am odd.

I hope the chassis is like a tea bag.

It's Plaxton, so the body frame will be by now, it was a bit crusty when I worked there, and that was 10 years ago

I really wanted a 2600 and not a V8, so I bought one.  The V8s are fab, but the other ones are fun too.  I hear that the 2300 is a lot less oomfy than the 2600, but uses almost as much pez.

I have only driven one P6, and that had a 2000 engine, with a singe carb, IIRC.  Is that the same 2000 engine as in the SD1, or did they do another one?  I should know, but have forgotten, and am being Google-lazy.

The P6 2000 was a lovely car in many ways, but I thought that it felt underpowered.

no, the 2000 in an SD1 Rover 2000 is an O-series which was used in other things such as the Sherpa van and Morri Ital and also in the Rover 820 E cheapo fleet special, there were also o-series engines in the princess/ambassador but they were transverse ones and not longitudinal ones like in the Rover.

the P6 2000 and 2300 were 4 cylinder engines of Rovers own devising, and not at all related to the later BL o-series, which was developed out of the old austin B-series.

in later years the o-series would be developed further into the M and T-series engines used in the Rover 820, amongst others.

I liked that, not 'cos I like the idea of Marvin's mum being odd...rather I like the idea of anything that might make it into one of those coffee table books of shit cars that the authors have not driven.

The interior on that MG6 doesn't look anywhere near as miserable as the interior on the MG3
