That Thema 8.32 is SMOKIN' HAWT.  The proper maintenance schedule on a 130,000 mile Ferrari V8 requires deeper pockets and bigger stones than I possess though, I fear.

This is winking at me, though.  900 Turbos seem to be on the up and this looks like a decent one without being stupid money.

900s are such gorgeous cars and right up there on my bucket list.  See 'plans for 2016' thread for why I should resist, however.

That 900 is really nice. Not crazy miles either normally these things have got about 200k on them.

Didn't some fruitcake once try to take his family to Australia in one of those Stalwarts?

I think they sank near the Isle of Wight or something.

I was semi seriously looking at Stalwarts when the Forth bridge was shut. Thank fuck I never found that one at that price or I'd be in trouble...

My son wants a van, he reasons that with fewer seats it will be cheaper to insure, plus he can fill the boot with subs and amps and other devices to make him deafer than he already is....

I suggested this:

And was promptly told to FRO.

I pointed out the £17 road tax and £100 insurance - he pointed out that it would be quicker walking with both legs tied together.

I was told that Stalwarts don't have enough differentials to be happy on the road, meaning that you have to periodically run the n/s wheels up and down the kerb to prevent the transmission winding up. Which is possibly why that one is pictured on a lorry.

Maintenance is supposed to be pretty grim too - the engine is under the load floor, and I seem to remember that each of the 'wheel stations' needs regular maintenance that is onerous to do.

LDV Convoys make fine campers, and the ones I've seen don't appear to require any maintenance ever.

YOU'VE BEEN MINI'D

I have all the receipts [for engine work] which cost over £3500.00

Shell requires complete front end, sills inner and outer, battery box. Near side and off side front floor pan and rear inner wheel arches.

You have, indeed, been Mini'd.

sometimes I can't resist the allure of a bog standard Sierra with the last (?) of the Pinto engines and no electric gubbins (don't even believe it has central locking?)

Engine location and exhaust routing caused them to have a penchant for boiling the cargo, too.

Which was GR12* when they carried fuel supplies.

That 8.32 keeps winking at me. Anyone want a MoT free Rover and a CX?

I would have been all over this had it been in the original beige colour and not a driveway spray job which he admits only looks good 10yards away.
