'Only done 8, 753 miles. 8,751 of those were just moving it up and down the drive to block/unblock the garage door to stop my bint from escaping. As you can see in the pictures it's got a right nice pair of bumpers, buffs up well, responds nicely to being pumped up and only leaks a little bit now and then. ATCNBE!'Ps ignore my bird in the picture, if she'd cooked my tea properly she wouldn't have had my finger in her eye. www.joseph-fritzl-cars.co.uk

The guy with the Escort obviously saw this XJS and thought "that looks good"

for the people who keep asking for a price, advert asks for offers, but to assist, wheels 500+skirts 500+private number 650+ car 750+ so add it up, add another number then, make an offer. thank you.

divide by zero

If the thing is solid under all that fibreglass, then I'd be making an offer : £350. Minus £500 for wheels, £500 for bodykit etc.

Yup, if he gave me £1500 and that XJS, I'd take it.

So that's one hopeless picture, an attempt by someone to drive a 4x4 into the black one, inspirational feedback and previous schill bidding? What's not to not like?

A normal Allegro with a VDP interior looks to be a winning combo.

I believe this car has been treated very well and garaged over the winter for the last year or two, only for sale due to a serious medical condition and I'm fairly sure it has had more money spent on it than mine had. I also know that the seller has a slightly fatter (unidentical) twin sister, but that's by the by.

For some reason this less than mint X1/9 appeals to me more than the shiny ones I've seen .... dented wing, visible rust, missing splitter, non working windows. but full MOT - it's got my name all over it

Cue flurry of car-obsessed blokes making appointments to "see the Allegro"! :D:D:D

Manual gearbox plus turbo make this ultra-desirable in my book. But that's a very strange book, and I wonder if the turbo does anything at all for power, or is it just for emissions?

All the 2.7 ones had turbos, but they're still dog slow [i've got one] the manuals are rare, almost all are autos, as is mine. Driver's seat was designed by a sadist, they rot like buggery. and the electrics are prone to bouts of hilarity. They do drive surprisingly well though. Horribly under geared though, anything above about 65 is painful on the ears, and the fuel consumption

Maybe they were all turbos in the high-speed pursuit place that you live :D but most I’ve seen have been non-turbo. It seems like this turbo was done for emissions, so maybe it’s for taxis that were still working until recently? Or it’s had an engine transplant from a Terrano, which had a turbo version of the 2.7

I quite like the idea of one, but I’m not sure if it would be too agonising on the daily commute.

Apparently, all LTI Fairways had that turbo engine, as did the TX1's, until the started lobbing in Ford lumps, which are supposed to be not as good. This is according to Wikipedia, however!

That's what I thought, I've looked under the bonnet of a few.

Is the manual box worth getting for better cruising? I could do with seeing 40mpg rather than 30 on my commute, most of which is A roads & dual carriageway :?

I'd love an XG30 but not enough to go to London to get it even if it's a bargainous £550. If you search for Magentis on ebay it comes up as XG30 as a suggestion. They must attract a certain buyer.

SHIT. I am off to London tomorrow and I've chosen to go by train to save a tenner compared to what it'd cost me in petrol. Must-pretend-it-doesn't-exist.

Or best offer too!

Plus it's only 65K miles and it's going to be slightly cheaper to tax as a pre-March 2001 car too?

That car would be about $5000 here, if not more!!!

Yes. The manual box is good for decent mileages but the clutch can suffer problems though.

I think the seller is talking bollocks.

The engine code is TD27 which might be where the confusion arises. Maybe there's a reason they didn't use the turbo engine like the turbo fouling the steering box or something.
