Cheap MoT'd Citroen for sale - £250 ono

Advertised on behalf of a friend who has recently turned 85 and decided to reduce his fleet.

Here we have an example of the 2.0 CT Turbo XM with automatic transmission, one of the true big Citroens. Currently on SORN, it is MOT tested until the 5th of December 2014 and passed without issue. Mileage is currently 100,900.

Clean and tidy car, there is the odd mark and blemish, but please remember it is now 20 years old. Interior is in good condition it would benefit from needing the usual valet. This car has an unusual centre armrest, which I can only assume was a genuine accessory to raise the height to a more comfortable, fixed height.

Car is located in Gloucestershire (GL2 area), 3 miles from junction 13, M5.

My dad's Fiat 126, "NSG916M", which was bought brand new in 1973 or '74  looked very similar to that by 1976...!

I like that.

There is something about the look of the cab & glass that looks as if it was fitted backwards.

I feel the need to put on a baseball cap, drink cold beer from a can and snuffle off into the boondocks to shoot snakes.......

Why am I sitting at work thinking, this is six miles away, go look at me!

'Coz you need a petrol XM, and it does look tidy, and the seller calls himself Tous Les Chevrons.

it's a well known local Citroen specialist - Tony Weston - I've had two petrol XMs ... and I'm better now! lol

Just might at lunchtime - WCPGW

Edit! Damn, it's still available ...

MEGA want from me on this, £250 seems very cheap for one of these.  I'm in car buying mode at the moment so if you don't want it, let me know Campbell and I'll hot foot it to Cheltenham!

What ever the opposite of trouble free motoring is I'm guessing it looks pretty much like a £250 Citroen XM.

it's in Cambridge, just down the A38, past Moreton Valence. The place is a hive of old Citroens - DS, CX, BX, XM, 2cv, Hy, etc.

I'm going to go lunchtime and ponder. I'll report back either way. I look at it as cheap and with a valet, a bit more expensive and straight back on C&C.

Am not a fan of the green though ...

XMs are nowhere near as unreliable as they're made out to be. Quirky, yes, but not too troublesome.

Polish steam loco for ten and a half grand anyone?

(Soz about the arrows etc on the pic- had to screenshot it as I'm using my phone)

this keeps coming up, knocks about 5k off each time. £10k feels cheap compared those steam traction engines, just need some rails to run it on

You lie like cheap japanese watch! :)

It's taken lankytim 14 spare cars to get his roadworthy and philbusimos brakes failed and it rolled into a fence!

I'd still have one of course.

Start with a good one, keep on top of it and they reward you with many exciting trips on the back of a big truck ...

Only twice have I had to have an XM recovered (out of six or seven XMs) - first time clutch cable snapped, second time, air in the fuel system. Otherwise, they go on and on and on ...

They've got a clutch cable! I thought even the stereo was hydraulically controlled on these.

not this one - it's a three pedal car. I'm a fan of the four pedal ones. But yes, they do!

A 250 quid XM is strangely appealing, in a nihilistic living on the edge sort of way. The Goth in me says he would.

Nice Skoda!

Same settlement as one of my relatives, unfortunately 300+ miles away.
