CITROEN id sell 19 B 1967 in good working with hydraulic fluid green, 4 new tyres, new spheres, radiator redone, new clutch, spark plugs and ignition redone, steering rebuilt, recent battery, starts first turn .. rust spot on body and front fenders, bottom of the doors, trunk floor has rusted again, rails in good condition ... needs door trim and seats recovering .. Rare model with 4 lights. Contact me by this or by mail ... straw yellow, black roof and red cloth interior.

This could be too good to be true, or someone who's getting on and can't be bothered anymore - see the older Merc in the background, which no doubt doesn't need a new boot floor. If it isn't rotten in the structural bits - and being the model year it is, it may well not be - it's a steal. Even got the LHM but the older dash and lights.

3500 euros

"I've owned them for over six years and done so few miles I think it's time to sell them" - has done 3 miles since the last test, which has run out. There's another, with a bigger engine, new loom, but needs finishing.

Is that 305 ex-Dugong? Stamped plates, odd wheeltrims and colour make me think so, also it's still in the North West.

Posted

yes it is the ex-Dugongmobile and I really want to foolishly purchase it because I am an idiot who wants to save ALL THE CARS.

That's been winking at me too - £500 seems a little salty but not a million miles off, might be able to chip him down a bit.

1300 4-spd.......stats that say WIN

The 1300 has the nicest steering and handling of any of the Mk2 Cavaliers. Bottom of the range is best.

Amazing that after 30 years this one still has the plastic trim on the bottom of the front spoiler/valance bit. Used to see those strips everywhere but where Vauxhall fitted them.

Interesting that he mentions 'fuel system cleaned and injectors removed/cleaned' as I always though the pre HE (high efficiency) engines were carb jobs?

Posted

Nope. XJS was fuel injection from the start. HE meant mainly cylinder head changes (and some other tweaks) to improve efficiency.

Posted

An acquaintance of mine had an early XJS which he said did 7 mpg. I took this with a pinch until I bought a Scimitar with a running fault that ran the 1st tankful through at 12.4 mpg, that from a measly 3 litre lightweight...
