Garishly coloured CL500 with a full test for £1,650. He's in Scotland, so if @cort16 is feeling brave/pissed/lucky, or @DodgyBastard reads the listing and sees the vendor wants to swap for a 190E, we could have a winner*

I don’t care that it’s £10k, this looks spectacular

Agreed that it's a stunner and that price for such a rarity is largely irrelevant.

However, the fact it's survived in the gorgeous Maltese climate for the last 40 years, only to be dragged to our damp, salty isle makes me a little sad. I always loved seeing the old motors when visiting Malta as a kid - it was great to see cars which had become rare over here due to rot.

I'd be surprised if there are any mk1 Escrots remaining there by now.

That's silly cheap for a running and driving Vitesse. Last MOT ran out in 2015, so theoretically it's not totally rotten. Maybe.

I’ve noticed this as well. Malta isn’t a huge place, but in recent years, it seems like a huge amount of interesting old stuff is being brought over here from there. It can’t be long before most of it is gone. You could certainly make the argument that these old cars form part of Malta’s identity, so taking all of them away does seem a shame

Totally agree. Malta is a better place for them. Supply and demand wins though and the Maltese have clearly worked out it's financially rewarding to sell their non-rusty classics for large sums to deranged Brits!
