Just as a general comment, new laws are afoot in France regarding rust and the CT. They were supposed to be introduced this summer, but have been put back till the end of this year....up till now, structural rot was not a fail and generally just ignored here, but will now no longer pass the test and apprently obvious plating is not acceptable as a repair....welding will need to be invisible...ie full on restoration-spec letting in new metal rather than a "just one more test" patch cut from an old washing machine and lashed on.

 

Expect a flood of older cars for sale cheap(ish) as they become impossible to CT.

Do you have a link to any webpages for this - I speak French a bit so be useful to see. There are few really rusty cars I see running about in France but the the few really bad ones I see....are very bad. Attached pic a not so bad one in daily use...these are nice big old vans and lots about still. Hope the 'bangers' dont disappear off French roads because of this...

I love the under bonnet pic that shows the hooter is bigger than the engine.

 

I bet when you push the button to toot someone the car slows down 10mph.

If anyone was near enough that Subaru to have a look i would be interested.... I dont need it, but i sooooo want it..as long as its a good one that isnt going to disintergrate before my eyes..... Its as usual a looong way from me.... Still., you only live once....
