I always wondered what Santa did for the rest of the year... that 'muriel' explains it, he's a tank mechanic.

Crikey, you would bleed to death just trying to clean that thing.   Go up the arse of a Mondeo or summat and it would cheese grate you.

99 quid for £5000  worth of parts. Bargain ?

I think it just needs a Cage over the top maybe ?

Not tat - this is the last of the real Packards on Ebay- it had their new V8. By this time they had disastrously amalgamated with the failing Studebaker. This example is not pricey for what it is - about compatible with a US example. Needs a big garage and goes without saying thirsty. But real quality and at the time the most powerful US car made.

...at the time the most powerful US car made.

It is not, but for being merely 10 hp short, it only costs a fraction of what an example of the most powerful '55 US car would set you back.

Am aff it

Just think, if you'd bought that Gooner 3 at Wilson's all those years ago, then the panda would seem a sensible choice

It probably would have worked out better as I'd have scrapped the gooner quicker and got it over with.

The Packard is a 6.2 V8 - I think about 270-300bhp on a 2100kg car. Not sure what was the most powerful US car made at the time - but I think this is the most powerful saloon? Studebaker also used the engine in their Golden Hawk. There were about 3000 Patricians made in '56.

A new one to me, this. But at £9k BIN quite a bargain surely? Must be a better place for my savings than the Bank.

And isn't Patrician a wonderful name for it? I'd feel like Queen, Pope and Dictator wafting around in my Packard Patrician!

Look at this air filter housing - a work of art! post-17481-0-48078400-1506495495_thumb.jpeg
