Total cost for the bonnet lock and wiring being sorted was about £130 including coins for the taxman, not too bad.

One year today since purchase of Henry and just under 16000 miles. Where does the time go?

I'll have to keep an eye on the tyres as the N/S/F seems to have developed a slow puncture. I suspect corrosion of the alloys.

Another decent trip planned for Sunday, all being well I'll be going down to the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway for the last running day of the season. The trip will see Henry click over 190k.

Henry resting at Castle Acre Priory, a last minute change of plan meant a different destination.

Henry's rear number plate lights now replaced with LED ones. They were easy enough to change, two screws hold them in then unclip the wiring.

According to the OBC Henry has so far averaged 68.3mpg going from Brough East Yorkshire to Durham.

The fuel economy figures for today's ride out are in, according to the OBC Henry averaged 68.9mpg in 350 miles which probably means about 65-66 in reality.

Henry needs a new drivers headlight connector, how easy is it to fit one?

A pair of second hand headlight covers are now on their way for Henry via the bay of E. About £20 for the pair including delivery isn't bad.

Another mileometer moment tonight with Henry. I managed to set his alarm off when getting out of him tonight as well, as I had been sat in him for a few minutes he had locked himself. Oops lol

Hopefully on Tuesday I'll be having a ride to Longbridge with the intention of getting some photos of the MG plant before it closes. It will probably be the last long trip Henry does this year.

According to the OBC Henry has averaged 65.3mpg in just over 300 miles on today's run, however I've noticed wobbling in the steering when braking at motorway speeds, I suspect the front brakes might be either wearing out or warped discs, is there anything else it could be?

Leaving Toby Carvery at Willerby tonight shows how much quicker Henry warms up than Minnie (the Fiesta) did. You come onto a dual carriageway and go down to the next roundabout to turn round, and the temperature gauge had just started to rise by the roundabout.

Another trip for Henry this weekend, a ride down to Ashford in Kent to photograph the WW1 tank and visit a couple of English Heritage sites nearby

Posted

Henry enjoyed his drive today, called at Wrest Park and Down House on the way to Ashford, plan for tomorrow is get photos of Ashford then call at Stevenage for some pics on the way back north. Over 300 miles covered today.

Just set a new personal record, 615 miles in 2 days.

Edit 620 miles not 615 at an average of 63mpg according to the OBC.

They said the glow plugs were that knackered they have no idea how it started let alone ran. Shows how hardy the 1.8tdci is.

I thought glow plugs are only there to help start a diesel engine, but don't have anything to with running it?

(since a diesel engine is compression ignition)

I could be wrong but I thought glow plugs also operated while the engine was warming up.

Good show there. You'll be joining the 200k club soon at this rate.  Wonder if Ford would issue a sticker, like Toyota do?!

Henry should be joining the 200k club next summer. I'm not aware of Ford issuing stickers lol
