Sounds a bit dear for a straight clutch swap if I’m honest I.e no DMF replacement. Are they sure it’s got no DMF? Bit late finding out when the gearbox is off that it’s another couple of hundred quid on the bill.

To put it in perspective I paid £700 at a VAT reg gearbox specialist for a DMF and clutch kit fitting to a Mk4 Mondeo.

  • Eyersey1234 changed the title to Eyerseys Motoring Adventures. New (to me) car landing on the 24th.

Henry will be departing later this month, partly due to the nag factor from Mrs Eyersey but also due not wanting it to become one bill after another, which was why I was debating about whether to get the clutch done or bail. He is going as trade in as it is easiest. The new car is another Focus which I will introduce when it arrives.

I'm looking forward to pics of the new Focus. My little boys mum has a 2016 (facelift) Focus in black, it's a colour that really suits them in my opinion.

Thanks Dan yes I agree black does suit them, I also like the Iceberg blue colour they did. Bit of a shame in a way that Henry won't see moon mileage with me but I suppose sometimes it's best to move on. New Focus is 3 owners from new with 93k on the clock, I suspect the first owner was actually the supplying dealer given the registration date.

Will be interesting to compare the economy of the new Focus to Henry, I would think you will get a few more mpg's.

I'm told the 1.5tdci averages 70+ mpg, under normal driving Henry averages mid 40s to 50mpg. One of my workmates has a 65 reg 1.5tdci Focus estate that says has averaged over 90mpg in the time he has had it.

What did they offer p/ex on the old Focus Estate?

£100 which is basically scrap value, I could have got more for it selling privately but it was just easier to p/ex it. If I had somewhere to store it until it sold and a way of getting 2 cars back here at the same time I'd have offered it for sale on here, but I don't nor can I be bothered with dealing with idiots on gumtree.

Scrap is round about £250 on that at the moment. So off it goes to the scrapyard!

Took my OH out for her first ride in Eccles earlier, we took a ride out to Pocklington Canal. She is impressed with the car and when I brought it home on Tuesday she asked to swap. Errm no lol.

My almost 17 year old stepdaughter wants one as her first car too, I suspect insurance will be expensive. She seems to think she won't need any lessons and can go straight for her test. Hmm she is in for a shock 🤣
