For some unfathomable reason.......

Purports to be a 1946 Austin 12...............with a "B" series..............rod brakes, and no front shockers........ahem......

My Morris Marina had a B Series and it had hydraulic brakes and lever arm shock absorbers. It didn't go round corners or stop very well, so I wouldn't let that put you off.

A few bits of featherboard and you'll be right

Sorry mayte! Posted in wrong thread. Oops... Move along... Nothing to see here...

Is the cab definitely old and not one of those modern generic "faux vintage" ones used for furniture vans & wedding wagons?

Posted

Did cross my mind, but the suicide doors and opening screen makes me doubt that.........and it is old....and steel

Posted

If anyone in 'shite land can identify the cab, I'd be grateful..........

Massey Ferguson 135 on backwards.

Couple of patio chairs on the rear deck and you're sorted.

;)

Looking forward to seeing what you do with it

What happened to that Burlington or NG or whatever it was that you were doing the Aeromax roof on? Have you still got that?

does this kinda thing for a living

is that said persons actual name or just their user name?!

because last I checked all I do for a "living" is mess with old computers and lightbulbs while browsing a beige internet forum and getting all goggly eyed over invacars and other assorted chod, nor do I have a Retro Rides account

That's fantastic. I've no idea what it is but I'd like to see it on the road.

His name is Dez, Stringer Fabrication I think is his company, or DDS metalwork, it's one or the other.

He's a bit of a rusty old steel licker, and a handy fabricator, likes to put diesel stuff in hotrods, builds all sorts of stuff.

By the way, I properly love this, and definitely would.  it'd look great in the works carpark with all the BMW's and Audi's

In the land of apparently not needing your car to be roadworthy they would buy a much better car, take the engine and drive train out of it, hack it about appallingly, put several thousand dollars worth of EFI and machined heads on it, allocate one day to fit it, work for 48 hours straight then with a couple of hours sleep set off and drive it 800 miles.

Needs either

A. A whopping big V8 dropping in

Or

B. A whopping big V8 dropping in.

A or B is fine with me.

Don't forget

C a big v8 diesel sticking in

Get you some of that and all that old bollocks.

4 pot staying for now..........having new hydraulic brakes [rod brakes are ok..up to about 12 mph] new steering, shock absorbers fitted, new rear axle. [MGB, possibly] door skins made, and a mild roof chop, and  front cycle wings. Going to be safer, and look a little less like a mobile phone box....oh, and some glass........

This would appear to be a pre-war Austin 12/4...............scuttle lines are right, although suicide doors are a bit of a mystery.........

Before you do anything check out what the hell its registered as and make sure the chassis agrees with the logbook, otherwise a world of pain and hassle with the dvla await.

Does it have a build history or record of being on the road pre '88 in a modified state?

Read up about the 8 point rule please before you start on swaps, it's getting short on points already unless you have proof it was modded pre '88 when the rule came in.

Registered as a '46 Austin 12............and has been for years. Replacement engine fitted in the 70's. It'll be getting hydraulic brakes [drums]..............any mods will be [ahem] discrete.
