Calling Citroen Xantia owners. I have a non-functioning outside temperature sensor. This should be fixable by way of changing the sensor. I'm led to believe it is found on the underside of on the wing mirrors. I can't find anything on either of mine. Does anyone know where this sensor is on the car or better still have a photo of it's location?

I changed the mirrors on mine but can’t remember any sensors. It was 15 or more years ago so could be wrong but can’t remember anything there.

You'd think I know the answer to this....

I took out an insurance policy a few months ago (July) and now no longer need it. It's all paid as it was never a monthly payment policy. If I cancel it, do I get a proportionate refund?

Reason for cancelling is they're a bit pricey plus my other insurers are the ones who allow about a billion swaps without any flags so ideal for me.

You'll probably get SFA.

I suggest buying a new chod for the policy.

On the S2 it sticks partly out of a very small hole underneath the left hand mirror.

Ah, in that case someone has removed mine completely. There is an empty hole on the underside of both mirrors.

Any plumbers on here? I need to add a couple of radiators. My plan is to T piece into existing feed then go in rad 1, out to rad 2 then back to return via another T piece. Any problems doing it this way? Any better ways to do it? Can I use normal household pressure rated plastic fittings? (I have a load of JG speedwell ones and pipe to match).

You need separate returns or turning down rad 1 with a TRV for example will restrict the flow to rad2.

How old is the current system? It could be either a single pipe with bypasses system or flow and returns.

Plastic fittings beware of imperial pipe - they will 100% slip off 3/4" (not quite 22mm), don't forget the inserts into the poly pipe.

Thanks for that, system was upgraded about fifteen years ago, no idea of age but house is mid 70s so I presume they would be metric. So if I take a T from the feed, further split it to feed each rad, then collect both back together and feed pinto return that should work ok? Pretty sure it has flow and return due to layout. I have worked with plastic a few times now and due to a brain fade moment had the joys of what happens when you forget the little insert, it resulted in a horrendous (15 years later -hilarious) attempt by me to hold back mains pressure water with my thumb while my wife frantically tried to turn off the isolator.

Hi all.

You may have seen elsewhere the Suzuki (2011 Alto) is playing up a touch, the horn has been very weak, like a clown car for some months now.

The other day I was messing about with the kids and beeping at them and it went silent.

Today having discovered it's located in a stupid and seemingly inaccessible place, I gently* prodded* it carefully* in a calm* and unstressed* adult* manner. Thankfully this grown up* feminine* touch technique* has got the comedy clown horn going again but really I need to make it sound like a horn other road users might actually hear.

So my question is, has anyone played with one of these Altos? It looks to me like I have to get the front panel off, surely that can't be right?

I can't get to it from underneath because by the look of it even if I get the under trays off there seems to be a bit of frame running directly below. All I can see at mount to the bodywork is the threaded end of a bolt, which suggests to me I need to take the bumper off!?!

Have I really really got to remove the wheel arch liner? Bumper?

Any guesses? I have tried Google and YouTube but there's nothing relevant.

The mrs has just bought a car , NI registered with a "MRZ 29xx" plate. We're in Chesterfield and she's keen not to look like she's got a personal plate on the car.

If we "sell" the plate, will the car get a normal 67 plate?

If it’s NI registered it’s not a private plate though, but if you stick in on retention you will get an age related plate. I guess that will be a non NI one but I suppose they could just stick a different NI one on as that’s where it’s registered.

I had the washer pump die on my Savvy, day before MOT.

Whole thing was half through body and behind under tray/liner.

But OFCOURSE... I bought a scrappy Pug pump, plugged it into a rigid poly bottle & snipped the loom.

Took 30mins and was better than factory....

So then ;)

I got a £60 parking fee plop into the postbox to cheer me up today. I left the 205 in the unlit bombsite of a carpark behind the old Odeon Peterborough last Sunday night, and paid for 2 hours. From time of entry til departure was exactly 2 hours and 35 minutes. I'm now aware you have to pay for the time spent actually parking, locating the machine, fumbling about for money, going back to get the reg. number etc., so on those grounds it's a 'fair' cop.

I simply don't want to pay these fuckers, indeed they should be paying me to visit their horrible theatre. I tried to contact the venue but their future events have been cancelled so the only consolation is that they appear to have gone tits-up for the 4th time.

Anyone considering the forthcoming Queen or Morcombe and Wise tribute shows have had a lucky escape, and I'd like to avoid that extra £60 for what I went to see, any suggestions?

Mondeo heated screen relay...

Cheers! Will have a look this morning. I'll probably get it fixed just in time for the mildest winter since records began...

Give us a shout if you need a spare relay for it. Chances are I’ve got one.

Thanks, will let you know

I once sent a cheque for £14- £4 fee and £10 to cover letter costs etc to a private parking co. With a letter saying " Your penalty fee is unreasonable, that's all you're getting, fuck off"

They took the money and never heard anything else. My thinking was that they would struggle to justify any more in court.

I've also just ignored them in the past- not a good idea these days. I've just paid £287 for one that went to court last month, from a ticket in 2015- not even mine! Daughter got it in a car registered to me. A Rover 600 that cost £100., long since scrapped.

There's is case law saying time spent finding a space doesn't count as parking time. If I recall correctly the case was a Cornwall car park, not sure you could stretch it to 35 minutes though.

If you can get in touch with the venue they might be able to do something to get it cancelled

Guessing this has been asked a thousand times but how much does it generally cost to change the head gasket on a K Series.

Seen something I like the look of but the head gasket is kaput. Not overheated badly though so shouldn’t be too much damage.

It's that question again, soz...

I'm surprissed you can't tell yourself by now Billeh.

I've currently got 2x PSA dizzles, neither are veg friendly, bastards.

I should do really, my mind/memory is getting worse though :(

The car it's attached to is a bloody horrible 306 with a few months test, but with the 'wrong' pump I CBA with it.

If it's a disposable cheap car I'd run some veg through it. I ran the ex-reb Lucas pumped Polo on veg and other road legal* viscous fuels, it was fine for a few thousand miles before galloping rust and a looming MOT test killed it.

MG Rover Mobile Mechanics £320 - (plus £20 per 100 miles in petrol if they come to you) Highly regarded within MGR licker country

I know they're booked up quite heavily at present and one of their mechanics has just left, so you may be looking at December onwards now.

At least you'll know the job is done properly
