Man, you seem to love this car as well. Damn :-(

Hopefully it won't come to that fingers crossed. Extended family have all said they'll contribute and her friends are all coming together so we shall see. It's an option though.

The fundraiser is on Facebook and was set up by one of her best friends. It's unlikely that anyone will even be able to see it to be honest so I dont think anyone that didn't know her even CAN contribute.

Hey

The link is very visible publicly, and it looks like the money is coming in at a good rate.

Again, sorry for your loss. It sounds terribly glib but nobody’s come up with anything new to say to recently bereaved and I’d hate you to think we didn’t all care.

Don’t be selling that car yet. There’s always a way...

Done.  I had a small win on a local charity lottery lately, so that's the amount I've sent.

I totally understand that you feel uncomfortable asking for charity from strangers, so please remember that this isn't charity, it's karma.  We help each other out on this forum - others have been very good to me, so I know that it will all come around again when I'm in need.

I've mentioned in the grumpy thread a couple of times that my sister has some issues and I've dreaded being in this situation more than once lately - fortunately she is doing well at the moment, but this could have been me.

That car gives you a lot of pleasure and you really need that right now.  I really hope you don't have to sell it (until you want to).

Sorry to come over all heavy, but I'm saying this so that you'll feel better about accepting the donation.

Thanks very much fella. It's very kind and much appreciated. I hope I can return the favour somewhere down the road and I hope your sister carries on doing great.

Sorry to hear the bad news. I’m not on Facebook but have sent you a small PayPal to add to the pot.

Thats very kind of you man. Thank you very much. It never ceases to amaze me the will to help that there is on this forum.

I've popped a few pence in your Paypal, as said on the other thread, sorry to hear of your loss.

Also, this thread has made me interested in a Benz built after 1986.

I believe they simultaneously don’t exist whilst also needing “six fucking litres”

Or something.

Well it's almost big hairy spider o clock so that means it's about time for the SLK to stretch it's legs.

Being unsuccessful in my attempts to loan it to BorniteIdentity, LoserOne has taken it out to Northumberland and Holy Moley Island (tides permitting).

It's got more range than his Leaf, if not the luggage space.

Also means I get to drive a Leaf around like I'm Buck Friggin Rogers. Beedee beedee beedee.

Have fun dudes.

I think those pulleys give you more boost bottom end too, so it should feel better in normal driving as well as GLF mode.

These have a positive-displacement supercharger... They don't provide 'boost' as such, but rather a set volume of air for every rotation of the blower. By shrinking the blower pulley or unshrinking the crank pulley you make it spin faster, and therefore provide a greater volume of air per revolution of the engine. This of course makes the Amstrad in it go "Fuck! Air! Give fuel!" and turns tyres into smoke.

Boost is just a measurement of a restriction in the intake system.

I think I saw you on the A1 :) Next time you're across to the island, stop at the Barn at Beal before the crossing for a fantastic breakfast or lunch - my mate's the chef!

Anyone up this way, I can provide a few routes to take in some of the best roads you'll find 'round here.

Mr Poopeas - I've not checked this thread in ages, and didn't see the unfortunate news. My apologies for having my head up my arse wrt my reading/posting on here. I hope you've been doing okay, bud :)

Well what's been going on with the Slk then?

Answer, not much.

Being a bit of a RUBBER MATT PERVERT, I've been keeping my eyes peeled for a Merc set. They seem to command decent money so I've been bidding on a few but not been winny enough.

I think I bid on this set when I was in drink because I only bid TWO POUND. halfway through the next day I got a message to say id won. Nice surprise. I only need the fronts because TWO SEATER BEATER so the rears can go in the OHs new car.

Much better.

I don't know if I've ever taken a decent pic of this before. It's a genuine MB boot tray. Never ever seen another one in an SLK and I think it's sexy as.

The extra mats can stay in there for when I get stuck in the snow.

I don't drive it as much as a should but every time I do it makes me happy. It even cheers me up when I see it across the road.

What better sight is there to greet you when you come out of the scone shop?

I like rubber mats. If you want to go a bit two bucket on them get some Autoglym silicone free sheen and they will look like new.

Jealously is an ugly trait.

Which is fine, as I’m also ugly.

Beautiful.

Finally decided to get one of my late father's plates put on the car too. I don't usually keep anything long enough to warrant it but it looks like this one is staying a while.

Now these need pre bent for the front but I don't have a heat gun........... He said. About to make a mistake.

Yup. I creased it.

Fuck it, it's still going on.

Now being a posh man's car, the rear plates are in a holder.

You know to stop people stealing your good numberplate (?)

So you needs one of these.

I was booked it for rear tyres tomorrow too but Black Circles have emailed me to say that they can no longer honour the date and time that I booked for fitting and will I go on Friday instead.

Terrible customer service experience. One star.

Yes, this WAS just a post about car mats and number plates. Sorry about that.

One thing that the car has been lacking (apart from rear tyres) is cup holders. I'm a prick so like to pick up a coffee on the way to work. Holding a cup kind of gives you licence to be horrible to everyone when you stride into the office as folk normally put your terrible manners down to you not having had your coffee yet.

The SLK has literally nowhere to Ballance a cup. WtfMB?!

You CAN get cup holders that replace the dash coin tray but prices are obscene and you need the dash out.

post-5435-0-68089400-1547569544_thumb.jpg

Being a cackhanded shitter on a budget, I thought VERY FUCK both of these things.

Instead I hopped on eBay and bought a cup holder for a Land Rover and presumed it would fit the SLK centre cubby. Worst comes to the worst, if it doesn't fit, I'll just have to buy a Land Rover.

I also made this purchase drunk so it was a nice but puzzling surprise when it landed.

post-5435-0-61924000-1547569735_thumb.jpg

Far more reasonable.

post-5435-0-06441600-1547569768_thumb.jpg

But does it fit? I heard absolutely nobody shout in anticipation.

The answer is........

post-5435-0-00341300-1547569901_thumb.jpg

Yes it kind of does!

Even closes properly.

post-5435-0-94518900-1547569946_thumb.jpg

I'll "adjust" it at some point by wrapping loads of black Duct tape round the unit so it's a more expert fit, but it's functional and I'm happy enough.

No more trying to hold a VENTI LATTE (OR MCDONALDS EQUIVALENT) between my legs whilst driving to work, and I can still be a prick when I get there!

Double result.
