Having failed to get any pictures of the first part of my journey (long green plastic Japanese tube), you join me as I embark on the next stage of my epic trek across Devon:

I have achieved Chod.

£30 to take the tank from 1/3 full to completely full.

I had one on an N plate too, different grill. Must have changed the grill at some point.

Mission accomplished. The passenger seat headrest was a little bit moth-eaten so a replacement has been sourced from a local breaker.

New one is a slightly different moquette but for £5 I don’t really care.

Also picked up some bargainous cleaning gear at Tesco’s, 40p a can!

I’m on the lookout for a parcels shelf but other than that it’ll stay exactly as it is.

Highly recommended seller too!

Chod achieved indeed.

Mother had a Micra just like that. a year older but it's the same through and through. Ours had the rear wiper package too!

Yes earlier grills had longer thinner “ nostrils” than the one on this. As the grille on this appears to originally been purple, and a later replacement I could never quite figure out which type would have been original. ‘N platers have a mixture of both.

Was good to meet you 83c, hope VTA does you a good turn!

Good to meet you too fella, VTA will do just fine for a couple of months running about.

As ever with my AS motors it’s potentially for sale or swap at any time, but to be honest it’s just the sort of car I like - nothing more than is required, no frills motoring. There is a certain joy to be had from such cars, and it does make me appreciate the toys and spec of things like the 525d a bit more.

Sorry I got a bit waylaid a builder mate of mine was just telling me my roof at work (knackered Georgian building) is “fucked” . It does leave me with the Vantman-holbeck 900 as my sole transport, until Bramz7 arrives next Thursday on his collection and delivers something en route.

What's it like underneath?

Not had chance to poke around yet, there is some history of welding having been done though. Check out N978 VTA on the online service for more details. From my perspective though it’s a hoot to drive, the engine is pretty willing and it stops well. MoT until February too which is good.

I power washed and bilt hambered the inner arches and was overall impressed. It’s got the customary back end of the outer sill patches but from my inspection I’d say it was very solid. It was little used from 2005-2018 which has helped. The paint if anything makes it look way worse than it actually is.

Nice find, can't beat an early one. Only ever driven an X reg with power steering, but I'd love to get my hands on and experience one of this sort of age before they all disappear.

This was exactly like mine, which my grandad gave me, P466 PNE. He said when they were introduced they would become a classic, and I agree. Take good care of it.

Mmm K11s. I like K11s. If you are looking for a parcel shelf, may I recommend the already speaker'd up K11 parcel shelfs from higher spec K11s. They fit straight in and rear speakers plug in straight away thanks to Nissan using the same loom for low and higher spec cars.

Open boot, lift back carpet covering right-hand rear wheel arch area and you should see a small connector plug taped/cable ties to some small metal membrane in that area. That is your rear speakers connection.

Sadly I have to report that I wrote the Micra off early this morning on the A30 near Launceston. Doing 70, minding my own business about to overtake a wagon and a badger ran out from under the central reservation. I swerved to avoid but smacked into the Armco instead.

In testament to how solid K11 Micras are, despite the damage it didn’t hole any of the vital systems and still got me another 40 miles home once I’d picked up the bits of body that came off.

I’m genuinely gutted.

Glad your ok! As you say such willing and tough little cars that it could carry on another 40 miles! Got any pics?

Long thin were the V early ones.

Sorry to hear of the loss of this Micra.

Sorry to hear that man and glad you're still in one piece. Car did its job. Good car.

When I was little, Pops slammed his anchors on to avoid a dog that ran into the road and catapulted me from the back seat into the windscreen, messing me up a bit. He said after that he would never swerve or put people in the car at risk for a loose animal. He hit a few pheasants after that but hapilly never a dog.

Im no hater of animals, but I follow the same principles now. If youve got more than two legs, get out of the way or youre getting run over. I wont risk my OH or passangers trying to avoid animals in the road. Unless its a fucking Stag, or cow, or giraffe thats likely to put the people in the car at even greater risk if you hit it.

Drivers door has moved back a few mm, and there are ripples in the o/s/f suspension turret. Beyond reasonable repair sadly.

Any accident you can walk away from can’t be too bad, and it has to be said the little Micra did it’s job well. I’ve got a sore head where I bounced off the top of the B-pillar, and some sore muscles in my wrists and ankles, but other than that I’m fine.
