EDDYFEST! October 21st, Sunday in the Lakes

For once this is a local gathering that I can actually attend, please reserve a Honda Civic sized space not too near the orchestra for me if you'd be so kind.

Are you and Memphis sorted for a lift down to Backbarrow Eddy? If not I can swing by and pick you up from yours no bother; You can have the keys to the Civic all day if it helps but big and comfy (especially compared to Hooli's Jag) it isn't;

The offer is there all the same.

Think I'll be able to make this too, though it'll be in the modern duster cos I've got nowt else.

If anyone's stuck for lift from Manchester, give us a shout.

Thank you, most kind; but I already have a volunteer for that leg of the trip.  I'll mark you First Reserve, if that's ok...

Who's Memphis? I feel like I should know but can't remember.

Memphis is my chihuahua-cross bitch.  Highly lovable until she sees another dog, at which point she goes into Maximum Defence Mode.

I'll try my best to attend seeing as I'm only in Kendal.

Ahh rings a bell now, is she coming? she's welcome to do so (as long as she doesn't eat cars)

She's very likely to be coming (nothing is ever certain, is it?) but don't worry, she's very good in a car.

Absolutely fine Eddy, Happy to be first reserve, Just let me know if you need a lift either or both ways

I'm sure you'd do the same for me if things were different.

MrsR and I have just come in from lunch at the Museum.  I was able to speak to Chris, one of the staff in charge of events.  He's pencilled us in for the 21st and is looking forward to it.  He also said that if enough of us turn up there will be discounted entry for those who want to "do" the Museum tour.  Oh and we can have the Club Parking, on the Museum side of the road, instead of fighting for space with the public.

I'll just be making it a day trip seeing it's not that far. What time are we meeting at the museum?

Seven o clock start you say? Easy day!

Hopefully I shall be retired again by the 21st so will pencil this in, haven't been to the Lake District for about ten years I seem to remember it's not too far, although I wouldn't want to start from here

I suggest between 10-11 AM.

Just a thought but... Ghosty, you might want to be a little earlier if you're bringing the banner, because we do have permission to hang it on the gate!

Oh, nice!

I might need a lift though as I'm planning on taking the head off the Rover. It's running like arse, also it isn't engaging its torque converter so motorway driving isn't very good on any front.

Any recommendations for a hotel?

Was thinking of the Midland in Morecambe as we've stayed there before, but open to suggestions, seeing as Our Lass says it's too cold to sleep in our shed on wheels :)

Edit - just booked a couple of nights at the Royal in Morecambe, about as cheap as it gets for a "sea view!"

I do like Morecambe's shite vibe :)

Newby Bridge hotel is literally just up the road from the museum and seems to get favourable reviews atm.

****EDIT**** but it looks like they're fully booked for the Saturday night

Almost next door to the Museum is the Whitewater hotel.  I think my sister stayed there once so it probably isn't bad.  There's also The Swan at Newby Bridge, which is only a mile or so away.  If you're prepared to venture into Barrow, there's the East Mount House B&B, where Craigtheprincess stayed when he brought me the red Saab for my first spell with it.  It's the Lake District, there are plenty of places to stay!

I've had a thought (be kind to it, it's in a strange place!).

When I bought Rawy's Volvo estate, which I know was a long time ago, he included what he described as "a big gazebo." Now I've never used that so I don't even know how big is big, but I do know one of the legs on the folding frame needs a dab of weld. At least one, I should say; I've never even opened it out. Do we want it as an official Autoshite gazebo for shows? If so, someone can collect it, either at Eddyfest or another time TBA. Might as well get some use out of it, right?

That would be ideal Eddy! Strangeangel had one that came to Chumley and Shitefest '17, but since he's stopped engaging with AS we don't have access to it any more. I don't think I can take it on myself (for one I'd need it welding) but if someone else could that'd be great.

I should probably bump this occasionally, shouldn't I?

If the bits of the giant gazebo that need welding will fit in either a Corsa or a Focus, I could perhaps take them away from Eddyfest, apply sparkly stick and then reunite them with the other bits at the next Northern Powerhouse?
