beko1987 Posted March 21 Posted March 21 I had a dream about dez and Rev last night 😂 You'd learnt that Rev fits inside abandoned buildings and onto bridges and had taken to terrorizing people hanging about/exploring places... You'd sneak in and behind them in Rev then turn all the lights on and drive towards them fast as they ran away for their lives, then drove off and away out of sight. Do I need to seek medical help now 🤔 500tops, adw1977, Andrew353w and 13 others 16

Andrew353w Posted March 23 Posted March 23 It might be wishful thinking on my part, but I thought I spotted an extremely rare early Wartburg at 1.13 to 1:18; it was to the right of the Ford Anglia, the sloping rear and the two tone paint job being characteristic of early Wartburgs.  I also spotted the "near miss" on the zebra crossing and the somewhat "hit and miss" attitude at the junctions without any markings. I just totally love these old films, if only for the cars and the street scenes!  Thanks for posting! Snake Charmer and lesapandre 1 1

LightBulbFun Posted March 23 Author Posted March 23 had another day doing things with REV  mainly local running about, but today was somewhat significant, as I got a chance to give my mum a lesson in how to operate/drive REV  although ill likely always be doing the most driving about in REV,I have been wanting to get her behind REV's handlebars, just so she has some idea whats what, and so that she has the ability/option to use REV if the need arises etc, and she has been game for the idea so I gave mum an end-to-end walk around of whats what (whats under the front bonnet and rear engine cover, how/where to check the essential fluids etc) and then inside the cabin much the same, a going over of the controls etc  so with the walk about complete, I got REV out of her parking space, and chucked mum behind the handle bars, went over things one more time and then let her lose  we just a few meters down the road with me walking along side, but mum was very pleased with that and expressed an interest in further lessons, at the FoD or somewhere similarly open spaced, so ill take that as a win  and then I hopped back in and went off to halfords to round up some bits for the hole in the exhaust smoll car is smoll, or moderns are massive! I basically picked up 1 of everything here (apart from the assembly goop) and a couple boxes of jubilee clips a couple different sizes, (sadly they where out of stock of the wettable exhaust bandage thingies) I figured with the gum-gum and the 3 different metal bandages and the hose clips, something out of that might be able to put together to hopefully cover the hole, depending on how much the tinwork above it gets in the way anyhow although when I saw that tent, I had half a mind to innocently ask "I have got a hole in my exhaust can you fix it?" another fill up, 23480 last fill up 23536 this fill up 8.46L so I make that to be 30Mpg  she certainly seems to be happier on NSL A roads and motorways then Central London traffic if recent MPG figures are to go by! one curious thing I noticed while parking up with REV is that her left nearside mirror and right offside mirror are different types which goes some way in explaining why I have had a much harder time setting the nearside mirror into a position I am happy with compared to the offside one, which has been set and forget (I think with the nearside one ultimately I need to unbolt and rotate the whole arm a bit, since I am at the limit of swivel on the head adjustment ball joint and so it likes to slowly move itself out of position) but I wonder if all dual-mirror equipped Model 70's are like this? is this something that was normal with 1970's cars?, or is this a REV specific thing?  (funnily on one of my very first driving lessons with BSM, the instructor pulled out an ancient road-craft book, and there was a section about different mirror types and how they can make objects appear differently then how they actually are, but I dont recall if it was just telling me about the different types in general a car could have equipped or if it was telling me that cars will have a different type of mirror depending on which side your looking at like with REV, TBH more distracted by the Triumph Dolomite/Toledo they where using as a demonstration vehicle!) lesapandre, Six-cylinder, Yoss and 9 others 12
lesapandre Posted March 23 Posted March 23 Have a go with that Holts stuff - but it's really not much good quality wise I'm afraid. But I hope it turns out OK.

Mrcento Posted March 24 Posted March 24 6 minutes ago, High Jetter said: Beans are 69p a tin Indeed, but harder to cut and work with, though (and messier if you need to do it in an emergency), a can of drink easy to use/dispose of the contents and use more or less there and then, Slap some gun gum around/over the hole, cut can, slide it over, ideally cable tie it in place centrally to let you put 2 metal clamps either side without it trying to slide/uncoil itself, bodge jobs a good-un! IronStar Posted March 24 Posted March 24 My 307CC had that setup - convex on driver’s side, flat on the passenger. I could never park the bloody thing as different perspectives bashed my head in. Once I had actually paid attention to why I can’t park it and realized mirrors are mismatched, I went straight for convex glass one for passenger side as well. No more problems parking in the garage since. LightBulbFun 1
captain_70s Posted March 24 Posted March 24 The Doloshite's original door mirror was a black plastic one with flat glass, fairly useless. I replaced it with a brand new stainless steel one with convex glass, much handier. Naturally a couple of years down the line it is going rusty... LightBulbFun, lesapandre and egg 3
