Cheap day out for all tomorrow (now with photies of cars and tractors and stuff)

It's our wee club's annual BBQ tomorrow.

It's in Glenisla in Perthshire if anyone fancies a day out. Free entry and you even get a burger! If you're really lucky, it will be Tam or me who cooks/burns it for you.

Tam's photo tonight while we're setting things up.

We organise road runs and an off-road run in the morning.

You'll get your car in the show field if it's half interesting, otherwise there's plenty parking and a nearby hotel and public bar.

Teas, coffees and bacon rolls on sale in the morning, organised by the hall committee.

Sounds great. Looks like a 400 mile round trip, which may not go down so well

As I’m in Dundee as I type this, I’ll leave the decision to Mrs FPB7 who’s lying beside me.

It’s been nice knowing you all.

I shall be there, forgot about it but my friend Simon just sent me an invite on FB. Plan to be there about 10 in time for the run, I am meeting Simon at McDonalds at Forfar at 0900.

Look for a cyclops Rover P4 and a little white noisy and smokey Saab Sonett!

Drum could you give a couple of weeks notice for next year? Sounds like a good meet but I haven't got a hope in hell of getting tomorrow off work unless I phone in sick, and even less chance of cobbling together the petrol money at short notice.

My bad sorry, I'll be better organised next year. It's the first Sunday in August every year for future reference.

The 305 estate...

I've not seen as many disgusted looks from classic car owners since I took it to Cholmondley a couple of years ago.

It was a decent day out, the drive up was fun, the weather was nice and I got a free burger.

It's an owd car makes you wonder what the problem is. Miserable fuckers! I'd be more confused by the r8!!

That was probably our busiest bbq yet with almost 200 vehicles. Not bad when there's only about 10 members in the club with an average age of 60 and we don't really advertise!

Unfortunately, the off-road run took longer than expected with a blown down tree blocking the track and two willies jeeps having an ftp and needing towed off the hill.

As a result, we were a bit late getting the barbie going.

Here are the tractors coming down off the run after I overtook them all while trying to get back to the field.

Sorry for not realising you were there foad and I hope you aren't too offended by whoever was giving your car dirty looks. Just realised your in one of my photos too. I must have been in a cloud of bbq smoke when you got your burger.

I did speak to saabnut, tickman and Alan with the 740 whose forum name I forget.

More pics to follow.

Gilbern! My mum had a mark 2 invader when we were kids as an everyday car. First car we had (my dad had a van from work). Uncle had one at same time. Well on my wish list

Superb day out, please pass on my thanks to all who went to a lot of effort to put it on. One of my favourite events of the year.

Hi Drum I’m Alan with the 740! Thanks for the heads up I really enjoyed this, spent most of the time chasing my kids round but saw a great selection of vehicles. Sorry I missed you Tickman, seen the Clio but again certain small people were not letting me stop for very long anyway!

Looks like a grand day out!

What's the green pre war car ?

Brother and I passed it on the way home from the unit and gave them a toot and a wave - a glorious thing!

That’s me I think!

And don’t you look pretty in your blue dress!

Haha! Didn't think that through... She was running from the skeleton in the passenger seat!

The light green pre war car was a Talbot.

Current owner paid £12.6.0 for it a mere 52 years ago! My offer to more than double his money at £25 was rejected on the grounds he has spent over 40k on it since.

I think the issue is I don't know what you look like otherwise I would have said hello, I spotted Saabnut while I was waiting in the queue for the burger and saw Tam as I got to the front, I saw Aldo too.

As for the dirty looks from the classic car purists, it's kinda expected when you bring a rusty unwashed 305 to a classic show, you know when the majority of people are walking right by it to lust over an Audi R8, the 305's just not going to be appreciated.

It wouldn't put me off going again, I only wished I'd got to go on one of the runs/offroading but I was late in getting up there.

It was a vision of a future I desire:)
