Jim Bell Posted August 9, 2018 Author Posted August 9, 2018 The original 0-60 seemed to have it hitting the limiter? Yeah. I think I've got too much mechanical sympathy. loserone, barefoot and Tickman 3
Exiled_Tat_Gatherer Posted August 9, 2018 Posted August 9, 2018 As an exiled Mackem - it probably held back itself as it realised you were heading into Sunderland...... just saying...... Proper little thrasher - not bad to fool around with for not much investment..... Jim Bell and DVee8 2
Lacquer Peel Posted August 9, 2018 Posted August 9, 2018 I think it was ironic 0-60 testing that caused my Inca to lose third gear. Don't do it kids. oldcars, loserone and Jim Bell 3
Jim Bell Posted August 9, 2018 Author Posted August 9, 2018 I think it was ironic 0-60 testing that caused my Inca to lose third gear. Don't do it kids. Yeah, we'll just settle on a 5 second 0-60 time and do away with all further testing. Lacquer Peel, loserone and The Moog 3
loserone Posted August 9, 2018 Posted August 9, 2018 Apart from the autotesting, obviously The Moog and Jim Bell 2
dollywobbler Posted August 9, 2018 Posted August 9, 2018 Mechanical sympathy? Don't worry men. I am now in The North and I don't really understand the concept. loserone 1
Jim Bell Posted August 9, 2018 Author Posted August 9, 2018 Mechanical sympathy? Don't worry men. I am now in The North and I don't really understand the concept.Youre welcome to have a go at my record time over the same course. Youll have to have a big dinner though. The Moog 1
dollywobbler Posted August 9, 2018 Posted August 9, 2018 Ok. Thankfully, I have bought my heavy boots. loserone, The Moog and Jim Bell 3
Christine Posted August 9, 2018 Posted August 9, 2018 when i was more childish, and did wheelspins , my dad said..."imagine hitting them pistons with a sledgehammer 5000 times a minute...coz thats what is going through that engine !!!!" ...as I did a "no clutch" racing change to spin up the wheels in 2nd..... Bucketeer Posted August 9, 2018 Posted August 9, 2018 How much does insurance reduce with a guard cat? He's Thatcham Approved mate. wuvvum, oldcars, Dave_Q and 9 others 12
overrun Posted August 10, 2018 Posted August 10, 2018 Great write up to all writer uppers concerned. What’s the score, pop 50p in the ‘Replacement Gearbox’ fund and take it for a 0-60 run, attempting to beat the current top score? Winner gets free fish and chips. Possibly. Bucketeer 1
inconsistant Posted August 11, 2018 Posted August 11, 2018 This thread is solid gold. Shame I keep having to go back to the title to remember what car it's about. Bucketeer 1
BorniteIdentity Posted August 11, 2018 Posted August 11, 2018 One of the free GPS speedo apps for Android will calculate a 0-62 for you. I’m afraid I’ve had an iOS phone for a year now and can’t remember which, but it might be worth having a look around. It indicated that my Avensis had lost about 3/4 of a second in 18 years and 220,000 miles. Jim Bell 1
Jim Bell Posted August 11, 2018 Author Posted August 11, 2018 Improving* Too much wheelspin on the second shot. Heading in the right direction though. Lacquer Peel, CGSB, The Moog and 3 others 6
Jim Bell Posted August 11, 2018 Author Posted August 11, 2018 Noise is quite pleasant. Too much traffic though.
barefoot Posted August 11, 2018 Posted August 11, 2018 Your gear changes are waaaay too leisurely and you roads are far too northern and consequently too shite.Find a proper industrial estate, down here they all come with a proper dragstrip attached. Christine and BorniteIdentity 2
tooSavvy Posted August 11, 2018 Posted August 11, 2018 The original 0-60 seemed to have it hitting the limiter?..... In a 'reasonably priced car' >> ALWAYS 0-60 in someone else's* car m8. Nice shoe *not nicked, mind! barefoot and loserone 2
loserone Posted August 11, 2018 Posted August 11, 2018 This will be a laugh I reckon. V5 arrived today and acknowledgement received, thanks Gareth!
Jim Bell Posted August 12, 2018 Author Posted August 12, 2018 We let Dollywobbler have a potter around in this last night. I dont think he was very impressed with it. I don't think the car thought much of him either, as its popped the FUCKMERIGHT? Mot fail light on this morning. Coprolalia 1
Jim Bell Posted August 12, 2018 Author Posted August 12, 2018 Luckilly I have a technical contact in China who provided me with cutting edge diagnostic equipment. And a leaflet. Coprolalia, The Moog and oldcars 3
Jim Bell Posted August 12, 2018 Author Posted August 12, 2018 I dont THINK the car even has an EGR so I'm going to presume its 02 related and ignorable for the moment. Ive cleared it so lets see if it pops back up. oldcars, Skizzer, dome and 2 others 5
loserone Posted August 12, 2018 Posted August 12, 2018 Jeez, you lend your* car out to a bunch of people you don't even know off the internet and they break bits it doesn't* even have. This place, good old days, et cetera
garethj Posted August 12, 2018 Posted August 12, 2018 That EML light used to come on occasionally, I’d loosen and retighten the fuel cap and it would usually go. It always cleared itself anyway, I don’t have a code reader thingy. It’s probably a sign that you need to drive it a bit harder The Moog, Jim Bell, Skizzer and 1 other 4
Skizzer Posted August 12, 2018 Posted August 12, 2018 Is that the 'something must be wrong if you can't crack 9 seconds to 60' warning light? loserone, garethj, The Moog and 2 others 5
dollywobbler Posted August 12, 2018 Posted August 12, 2018 Are you sure I drove it? I can't remember. Jim Bell, loserone, Sigmund Fraud and 1 other 4
