That's my era too. Surprising amount of Vauxhall fans here, considering they were never that well built. I'm talking from experience. I'm still a fan despite this!

Remember the AS motto.  AvAS.

I'm a fan too.

It was £1500 and had only got 47000 miles with a full dealer history. Downside was the rear arches.

Hi,

Been here before but following a separation and cull of my car collection. I have had to start again. I did manage to hang on to the 405,

But have now added a Vectra B and a Nissan Primera to the mix

welcome back, no cavalier anymore?

No Cavalier has gone. At one point all I had was the 405

Hihi :)

Just had my account verified! Currently having a shite-atus, so just have my '13 Mini Cooper S R56 and '15 Jaguar XF 2.0d, but am looking to get back into owning some automotive shite very soon!! Did recently have a P38 rangie diesel that I planned on running on Veg oil, however sadly she was a little too far gone for me at the time :(

My end goal of shite is either a Wartburg, Lada or, if I can find one, a Yugo, as my Czech great grandfather used to have loads of these back int' day

Posted

Welcome to AS @poached.egg! Take a chair, you’re going to love it here - quite a few Yugos on here.

As a resident serial Yugo bother and apologists from its homeland I can only say it was unfairly judged, against the standards it was never trying to achieve. Give it some love and sympathy, and it’s a reliable, rugged small car that won’t leave you stranded and will get you from A to B any time of the day.

Not new but absent awhile, and thus re-introducing myself. Hope everyone's fine and dandy.

Still clinging on to the Streetwise and the Rover 420. And a moon mileage Vauxhall Combo van. And still self-employed couriering.

Now for an epic catch-up. This may take some time. Unless someone can summarise the last three years or so of Autoshite in a succinct paragraph for me.

Missed this post

Very glad to hear my old 420 is still up and about !

Hello all,

Long time lurker, first time poster. I was told about this place some years ago by a tyre fitter in scunthorpe. I had taken an Austin Maxi for a new set of boots, and he said "im sure ive seen this on autoshite" I never did find the post. But for the last 10 years or more ive looked after said maxi and an ambassador.

Welcome. Piccies please, when you have a chance. Lots of BL lickers on here, as you've probably seen.

Almost all "my*" vauxhalls were Great.

* my including wife and son

3 x mk3 astras. All written off because I can't actually drive.

2 x mk4 astras.

1 x mv6 omega.

1 x mk3 cavalier

4 x mk2 cavaliers

2 x Astra J

The only shit things in all of them was the auto gearbox on a 1.6 Astra J. (Chocolate)

And everything about a mk2 cavalier calibrE.  Which was my dream for years and turned out to be really really shit

Incorrect Wheels, leather calibra interior, bodged rust. Dodgy electrics, dodfy power steering, engine a proper dog which put a rod through the block. Only decent things were the front brakes which i fitted off a mk3 cavalier gsi.

Hi everyone! I'm Henry, and I'm 19. I've loved old cars all my life, and I've currently got a 1967 MGB GT. Not particularly Autoshite, I know, but I've always loved this forum, and I thought it'd be great to get involved. The B is currently off the road for some engine work (had a bearing go...) but I'm hoping it'll be sorted before too long. I don't have any photos on this computer, but, if you'd like me to post some up, I can do soon.

All the best everyone, Henry

I dunno. Quite a few of us either have or have had B's.

Definitely get a thread up! Many of us love pre-80s British stuff. Especially BL and BMC.
