FUCK FUCK THREADED SPARK PLUG BORE SEND HELP

Dislike.

When you took the plug out, were there pieces of aluminum from the head in the threads of the plug? I've only ever had similar on a motorbike engine, it wasn't severe and I managed to tidy it up with a tap set and installed the plug fine. Maybe you'll be able to do the same if it's not to serious?

Installing a helicoil looks quite easy, but we attempted it on a mates car years ago and found it to be extremely nerve wracking.

Cut a slot up the side of the thread on the old plug with a grinder, clean it up & wind in slowly by hand. It'll work as a tap & clean the thread up if it's good enough to use.

Does anyone have a grinder I can use, then?

In slightly better news since the car got to stretch its legs a bit, the 'stat seems to have freed up:40d3fc8a1e85c4d011c9208c56c920dd.jpg

May explain the misfire if it's not seating plug.

Aye, slight lack of compression if the plug falls out...

If you have a tent I can give you a lift to shitefest...

I cross-threaded The Volvo's number 1 spark plug a few years ago (ironically the easiest to access), but I managed to save the day using a proprietary spark plug chaser I bought cheaply on eBay. I imagine that any decent car spares shop (and Halfords) will sell them.

Top tip: if you use one, put lots of grease on the chaser's threads to collect any swarf.

Prelude shifts fine Ghosty! Can't imagine it being poo. Your ATF change did wonders.

What's wrong with crimps? Looks like ISO on the end which I bet it didn't have originally.

They've lopped the ISO off, and directly crimped a proprietary connector on so I need to buy and re-wire some ISO plugs.

I might have a normal iso extender which you could re crimp on, although that doesn't help you before shitefest...

I do have a radio I might add, it just seeems I'm stuck to AM/FM and cassettes.

Driver's door speaker is dead too.

Rain has stopped play.

It's also made the bumpers the right colour. I'll have to heat gun them or something. 7ce5872c587de2249aa11a228d08f21d.jpg

I used to treat my 1994 214Si's bumpers with Autoglym Bumper Care every few weeks, which kept them looking decent, as they were faded to buggery when I acquired the car when it was but six years old. I still use its successor, Bumper & Trim Gel, on The Volvo ^^

Lovely stuff, really nice.

These were pretty much the high point in motoring in general. CLASS

My grandad had one of the first of these (as a 216GSi) and while I know for a fact it was red, it always turns up in my memory as this shade of beige.

Er, it's white...

Are you thinking of Oyster Beige, by any chance, or are you referring to the Prism velour seats and 'slate' dash and door cards?

I'm not a nerd, I just have the brochure because it was cheap on eBay.

Service time.

Already got a shard of glass lodged in my fingertip trying to clean all the plantlife out of the engine bay, it fucking hurts.

That's quite possibly further evidence that the car has been broken into at some point in the past.

Someone probably wanted the Pan Pipes and Kenny G tapes out it circa '93. Savages.

oil: done

filter: shit access; on rear of engine UNDER THE INLET MANIFOLD, looks clean so can wait for a while until proper tools are acquired

spark plugs: done

ATF: done, will do again

wiper blades: done

The boot didn't always close, sometimes it bounced. Turns out the trim around the base of the rear windscreen was loose.

T-Cutted some scratches out, realised the car needs machine polishing

The front bumper is just off its mounting lugs at the sides, this is easy to fix. I want to take it off anyway as it gives better access to mount the horn compressor.

Bah!

Nowt that 20mins with crimps & a new ISO won't fix though. It's the ideal* job for siting in the car on a rainy day.
