Do you have anything by Charles and Eddie?

We are about to get a new caravan so I've put our shitty old one on eBay.

It's not bad as shitty old caravans go, but it's far from perfect. It would make a good £200 starter van for somebody, or a handy garden ornament/spare room.

Already it's been bid up over £200 by a zero-rated member and a newish member with only 60% positive. The 60% member seems to be from Merseyside. I'm not comfortable selling it unseen to somebody from that far away, especially someone with a dodgy eBay history.

What can I do? Should I contact them asking them to explain themselves or just remove their bids?

Pato Banton, Charles and Eddie, Glen Medeiros etc..Guys, if I had any of those do you really think I'd be offering them up for sale??

Triumph 1500 Engines. I have three 1500 engines in various states of (dis)repair. The one pictured has a blown headgasket, another complete one has a rumbling bottom end, the third was expensively rebuilt and did about 20k miles before it melted a piston. Crank was balanced though so some internal parts might still be useful. One has a smaller lighter 1300 flywheel and clutch. I basically need them out of the way. £30 for the lot?

I have a few bits on the bay of e at the moment, but as i'm not near a computer i can't link to it, i'm under dockertrigger if you fancy some bmw 02 lowering spring, some 13" alloys, some mk 2 Fiesta wheels, some Volvo 340 wheels and some other bits.

Dont suppose anyone has any Curtis Stigers do they.

Is eBay still the best way to have a mass clearout of biblical proportions? i.e. the best return for your items

I'd have thought so. I've a load of old records, a decent turntable and a few other bits I keep meaning to list. Trouble is I just can't be arsed

So even taking into account all the cuts that are taken by both eBay themselves & PayPal which are both unavoidable, what's left still leaves you better off than you would be selling at a fair or boot sale?Well, I guess you wouldn't persist with your eBay shop if it wasn't profitable, but what is more lucrative for you, your online auctions or dealing face to face at toyfairs?
Posted

I've only done one car boot sale and never again. Various characters had the doors open before we'd even got parked up. Someone grabbed my wellies which I just keep in the boot. People rummaging like scavengers. And I know it's traditional to barter, but I'd rather have tipped stuff in the bin than accept the insultingly derisory offers some folk came out with. At least with ebay you don't have to interface with some of these bellends.

That's totally how i feel about car boot sales, i had one last year and hated it, I ended up locking the car up and walkin off when i first got there as i had people start opening the doors to get stuff out.I even had one bloke haggle me over 20p!

That sounds very undesirable! The only argument then against selling online is how damn time consuming it all is :?

eBay for us is profitable, albeit hard work sometimes and even then you have to turnover a lot to make much money. We don't do toyfairs as they generally are a waste of time for a business looking to make a profit - you get too many people who are essentially dumping stuff at below trade price and collectors just looking to move bits and pieces on. For us, car shows are generally pretty good. Bit more targetted but more expensive to do in the first place. For just selling personal items (rather than a business seller) I'd rather do eBay than car boot sales - did a car boot sale and it was a horrible experience - having somebody trying to knock you down on price for something that you were asking 50p for tends to make my piss boil just a little bit and dealing with all the utter plebs was painful.

My Mitsubishi Starion 2000 Turbo engine for sale for 99p no reserve.

It's 180bhp, and has loads of lag and then loads of boost. Relentlessly unbreakable (same block still being used in Lancer Evolutions)

Put it in your shitey Mitsubishi or even a Proton MPi.

I sold the car last year and it's in my mate's garage - never going to get used.
