Old chod in Normandie this Easter Now with pictures

I might be going to this, depends on my work load from the eleventy thousand Brits that arrive demanding my services

every Easter. I've not been before but apparently it's a good do. If I get there I'll be in my van with a two wheeled shite space in the back.

It's near that there Mont St Michael.

I don't suppose you'd keep an eye out for a pair of Rancho bulkhead spotlight's at the bourse SVP

Thanks. I'd be most grateful if one or other of you spotted a pair.

I need a  Seima indicator/sidelight lenses, part number 422G, please.

Also the old style triangular R16 interior light, i.e. this shape:

cabochon-plafonnier-renault-16-r16-prix-

and not the common one like this:

However, I don't need the lens, I need the lamp itself.

Ok, they're added to my list.

90% sure I'm going, unless my clients are on fire or are willing to pay an extortionate call out fee they can GTF .

Bugger.  The stall at the NEC where I got 320T's GSA lens had those.

Sorry, Yunkmann...

I am between Le Mans and Tours for the next couple of weeks, but currently without suitable ancient transport.

I was successful at telling my clients to FRO so managed to get along to this :)

An extra mission apart from drooling over the cars was to have a look for some lights

for Junkman and Holbeck.

Here's some pics:

A brown CX with beige interior, this passed me on the way to the show, I was doing 130, he must've been doing 150.

Lots of spares

But no NOS bits for Junkmans R16.

Plenty for this type of R16 though.

Still keeping an eye out for Holbecks Rancho lights, these looked like a win from a distance.

Sadly not the same as these.

Some good stuff there.

Before this year's French holiday I need some tips on how to find a show where I'm staying. Closest I've got so far was a tractor fair.

I spotted this show from a poster in a bar, so you'll have to go in a few* bars :)

Or pick Gazoline or La Vie en Auto magazines.

Or try here: http://www.lva-auto.fr/agenda.php?src=menu

Big thanks to Mr Frogchod for keeping an eye out Rancho lamps. I'm convinced the only way I'll find some is at such a bourse.

I'll have to study that link and plan a visit to France myself!

Thats a Readibus! Haha

They have a wheelchair lift in the back used for taking disabled people about. I imagine that has been accident repaired and bought through copart as a couple in there when i was there...

La Vie de la Auto has a very good listing section. It used to come out fortnightly but I think is weekly these days. It's a nice read too - very well produced. The events are done by Department number so if you know where you will be its easy to find whats on. Here is a Department map:

The only snag is although there are a lot of events in summer because of the size of France you may find trouble locating an event within easy reach. If you are holidaying get the local paper too because there are a lot of events that are more low key that have old cars present. This was Carrouges in Normandie last summer...about 40 local cars at a low-key event. Keen classic car scene. Take something old and French and you are bound to get lots of interest.. I took my C15 which is not really a classic yet in France but fits in nicely.

Of course you could plan your holiday around shows but you will need to make sure whoever goes with you is cool about that. If I have time over the summer I will post details of any good events nearish to the Channel.

My urge to retire to rural France grows ever stronger.

That brown CX looks almost burgundy due to the conditions. Interesting to see that the single wiper parks to the left (as on RHD cars) rather than the right.

Lots of spares

I'd imagine there'd be a fair few CX spares knocking around at these events....

I'll finish that for you.

Reminds me of a dachshund on wheels.

I can't believe that France was actually open!

That Panhard is mad as a frog box.  New one on me, etc

Thread resurrection.

I think this autojumble at Saint James is happening on 22nd April this year, although there is precious little on le internet.

I'm tempted to go over in the C15

Are you likely to go Mr. Frogchod?

I'm not sure, it looked full of wob and the interior trim was poundland. It could be a bad restoration of a coachbuilt car or it's a butchered Servicevan...
