Mrs Ash's car refuses to bluetooth bond with her new iPhone 4 or whatever it is.

Even Jags think the iPhone is shit! :D:D

Don't want to start a new (non-shite) related thread so hopefully nobody will mind if I ask on here:

Anyone got any experience of 02 broadband? I want to change provider (mine is shit) and 02 seem to come out o.k on one on-line check thing I did, but it'd be nice to know if anyone has experience of them direct?

Cheers.

I'm using o2bb, have been for a couple of years. Reasonable speed, cheap cheap, very few failures in service, customer service top drawer when my supplied router went tits up.

Thanks, think I'll give them a call in the morning. Their download speed seems vague though as they quote 'up to 20MB' rather than an actual figure.

Only Cable providers (i.e Virgin and, erm Virgin) can offer a fixed download speed, as their equipment is on every road so your house-to-box distance is pretty fixed, on average half the length of an average street or so.

BT, and those using the BT network i.e. anyone but Virgin, use a different system where your porn is piped from your local exchange, which may be anything but local. The length affects the noise on the line, and therefore the speed.

If you phone them and give them your postcode, they'll be able to give you an idea of the actual speeds you might get - but this is often as accurate as my 20-sided dice giving you the same information. It may even be the method they use.

It's a very, very long read. But the gist of it is, some joker registered "Railtrack Ltd" as a company name when Railtrack PLC went tits-up and was reformed into some other company. As such, he gets a lot of letters meant for Railtrack PLC from solicitors and suchlike, and responds to them in a humorous manner. Worth a read if you have an hour or so.

Thanks and very apt.

I did an on-line speed test thing and it told me I'm using Virgin! I actually get my internet from tesco but I heard a while back they just buy from whoever is cheapest and often change supplier.

Virgin has been absolute dog shit to be honest though not as dog shit as Tiscali who have to be the worse service provider/after sales twats EVER.

'Dear Sir,

We have just had a whingeing letter in from your Solicitors, Rowlands.

They complain that when they attempted to contact the telephone number on our letter toyou of the 6th inst, “it appeared to be the speaking clock”. We suppose that we should give them full marks for observation on that one...'

Great laugh this, thanks for putting this up.

Spent a while dealing with an unhappy customer. To be fair it was a complete balls up on our part and we'd messed her around something chronic. It ended up going higher but long story short she asked the manager to thank me personally. Only a small thing but I was genuinely chuffed someone took the time to say thanks.

I've been told by several people now that the English are good with complaints as we're naturally quite sympathetic and understanding. I guess that's what a life of dealing with BT, DVLA etc makes you

A bloke phoned up saying he had a dead fox in his garden, and it was around the same time of bird/swine flu, and you basically had to double bag anything like that and take it to a licensed landfill. He had been onto Streetscene all morning and afternoon whose responsibility it was to take things like this off the public's hands, but he wasn't getting anywhere, and was at the end of his tether, so I said 'I WOULD SORT IT OUT FOR YOU', even though it wasn't my job at all. I spent the next 1/2 an hour phoning round, and he phoned back the next day and told my boss what an ace job I'd done, and that the fox was gone within an hour of him phoning us. :)

I was sat in an office 8 hours a day, and most people wouldn't even been arsed to do that, passing it onto someone else.

Went out for a drive in my 02 this afternoon though the North Suffolk / South Norfolk countryside, along the little, windy lanes through Swefling to Harleston and coming out at Diss, Covering about 80 miles in 2 hours, I've never been up there before but what a great day for it!.

The amount for fun you can have in a old car on those lanes is fantastic, and the little 165R13's squealing on nearly every bend even when doing 30mph made it feel much quicker too, Bliss. 8)

passed its MoT first time today, with only an advisory on two rear tyres (which I was going to replace anyway).

Then driving it back to Norwich where my storage is, there was a 1906 Rover just randomly parked in the driveway of a semi round the corner.

Then I extricated the Renner Six from the shed where it's been for the past year and a half and drove it up the road to the Total garage to give it a jet wash. It drove as well as ever (up to 30mph when the semi-detached nearside rear wheel goes into a tank-slapper) and nothing was seized, which is good. I'm hopefully going to get the trailing arm mount sorted in the very near future, hence the reason for getting it out.

Then on the way home I passed an immaculate white F-reg Uno - not seen a pre-facelift Uno that tidy in years.

I have to say that coming back to find that Bickle's 411 has been stolen has put a bit of a dampener though... :?

Saw a H reg 1970 Hillman Avenger 1.5 GL for sale today, Only 60000 miles, It's 81 year old driver who's had it since 1975 is retiring from driving, It's straight as a die but a bit scabby but the owner wanted £1500 for it, even he knew it was to much but that's what his son told him it was worth.

Still tempted to offer a (much) lower price.

This video has been dredged up and digitised by my mate after being in stasis for 9 years. See if you recognise anyone in it, but a bit younger looking :D

I had a tape of this, but my 1990 AKURA SUPER VHS MACHINE chewed it.

Did you actually break that sjkateboard or was that planned?

It wasn't planned and it snapped in half because it was old and I'm a fat bastard. The other lad's reaction was a mixture of genuine surprise and playing up to the camera.

I wasn't supposed to fall off the board in the first sequence either, and the bit on the sledge took about 20 minutes to get right because it kept veering off to the right and tipping over when I was going down the side of the berm. I came off spectactularly one one rush and we were going to use that shot....but the DV camera chewed the tape and didn't record it.

The surrounding mounds near Kingsmead (it was done in Northwich if you recognise it) are really steep and we got told to stop as we nearly went into the road when we were pratting about. The police got called and I was called into the principal's office because someone had said the lads I was filming it with had bullied me into doing it. He looked at me a bit strangely when I said it was my idea to sledge off the berm in the first place......

I spent the rest of my Media Studies course fiddling with super 8 cameras and shooting experimental films that our tutor didn't like. It was around that time that I realised I had an allergy to grass.

Yesterday me and the O/H went to Malvern to pick up some seats and other bits for my Sceptre that I won on ebay. (seller was the bloke that had the Cortina shape P100 in the 'ebay' thread). Anyway, as his place was in the sticks the sat nav was worse than usless so I stopped at a nearby pub and rang him. He told me he'd come and and meet us, and a few minutes later a 2000E Corsair came round the corner... We followed him to his yard, with me struggling to to keep up in the low-blow Astra of POWAH!. As well as the Sceptre (which is going to donate it's engine and auto box to a Commer PB camper) he had Minor (on it's side) MK1 Espace, and 1968 Alfa in his yard as well as a couple of 'moderns'. He'd also got a Ford 100E, a MK3 Zodiac and an FE Victor as a daily. I got a good haul of bits that I need for my Sceptre, had a chat about old cars and then we went to Upton-on-Severn for a bit of lunch... where I spotted some great old comercials outside an old garage. All in all, a good day! :D

On saturday I fly to Prague for 2 weeks teaching work!

I am a little apprehensive as the company are a bit vague about exactly what I'll be teaching but should be an experience.

Plus shite-spotting potential!

Is that John Payne's place? Various ex army Bedfords and a Diamand T wrecker all on 'q' plates, would love to know the story there.

Still has attended petrol pumps; saw an A35 filling up there and couldn't get the camera on my phone to work

Where did you go for lunch? the star always used to be good for food at one time

Yeah. I have convinced myself that they would only do that to Americans. Plus, I am petrified of Russian women.

It was, and we got a decent mark for it as well.

I'm going to see if the raw footage of us towing that go kart thing behind my Ford Ka still exists.
