For me, there is no car, no engine that makes a nicer noise. :)

I got a book out of the library about the 2CV - very interesting read. :) I had a 2CV fixation when I was about 11 or 12.

I still couldn't quite understand why the 2CV was re-introduced into the UK market in 1974 when the Dyane shared the same engine. I also preferred the look of the Dyane as well.

Hey don't complain next time you get some nobhead wasting your time about the Astra!

Not sure what you mean.

You're quick to complain about tossers asking daft questions about the car you're selling, but then you go on his FS thread and laugh his asking price outta town.

Getting Fedora 13.3 to run, beautifully, on a really old laptop. :)

My neighbour bought a new grey one in about 1989!

Did it have a new chassis under warranty for its first MOT...?

I really need to go and see this and it's 'unique' awesomeness. Oh and it's 'well kitted out' which in layman's terms means it has a sink, a crap telly with some bare wires running from it and a couple of old beds no-more-nails-ded to the floor.

The big selling point for me though would be the overspray on the door locks and fuel cap.

I raise 2CVs at Spa with this...

... extra shite points for the 5-speed racing column gearchange! Had a '76 Tourist which was sadly stolen, a thoroughly entertaining and truely horrifying car to drive all at the same time... might go get another one... !

I have no idea what that is, but I suspect you'd find it amongst a load of discarded needles, bits of foil, etc.

I have no idea what that is, but I think you should try to take it on a plane in your hand luggage.

It looks like something built off some eBay plans that will make hydrogen from tap water and make your fuel bills DISAPPEAR!

Homebrew?

My mate was making some homemade potato-based spirits recently and the whole thing exploded all over his kitchen. Tasted nice though, according to him

Oh you've got to get another! Fantastic machines when on song, I had the ex Nick Larkin(pc days) 353s and a 57 311 (YFF 416 where are you now?). Like chalk and cheese but both screamingly good fun.

Cheeky rascals.

It's my version of this:

4d_1.jpg

Which is on ebay for a stupendous £1042.23

So far mine's cost me £102.71 half of which was for the vacuum pump.

And a bit of time annoying the neighbours cutting up a calor gas bottle - can't get rid of the smell they add to gas so discarded, then a stainless beer barrel fished out of a hedge by my neighbour which is far too big so the third "flask" is a pub co2 bottle which is a little small but will do for now to see if it works ok. I've some bigger diameter bottles I can collect tomorrow for free which would be better. :D

Is it for collecting bull semen? Avoiding the risk of repetitive strain injury to the wrist.

Whell, I know what it is (it's a degasser) but I'm still at a loss as to what you are using it for :o

Degassing the RTV silicone for things like this:

you can see the bubbles in the mould.

Inturn degassing the resin cast from the moulds to make bits and bobs for these:

The figures 15mm high... Oh and i made those sandbags by hand too.

Just a kitchen table enterprise.

Hey, here's a thought (re your vessel size dilemma).. vacuum never exceeds 1bar, so you don't need pressure bottle type specs. Pub bottle is total overkill! the ebay thing looks like a piece of pipe mig welded to a flat plate. I can do that for you (in fact, pretty much anyone with a welder and some skill can)

Actually, I'm complaining (in the grumpy man thread) about people showing interest in my car and then disappearing.

Now can you please stop policing the shit people post on forums, it's completely unnecessary.

Digging through some old pictures on my computer just now and found these from a couple of off-roading days I did.

Geezer was told not to venture round this part of the course in a standard ride Freelander when he didn't know what he was doing. LISTENING FAIL...

4x4day09122007002.jpg

I think he'd been there like ten minutes when it happened and he also stalled and subsequently tried to re-start it when it was partialy submerged. Last seen being towed to the end of the road waiting for the RAC.

This lad was funnier though. Hellbent on going everywhere in his Trooper(?) and didn't seem to care what happened. It was piss funny when he got stuck here, he was up to his knees in water inside the car and when he opened the door his fag papers, pop bottle, lighter fuel and various other tat just floated away

Seem to recall he drove away from this and carried on like a loon.

I did something similar in the 2cv one year on the way back to uni. There were floods and most people were turning round, but I had no fuel gauge, no idea how much petrol I had, had been driving for three hours and only had 20mins drive left and no idea of an alternative route (no map book).

I was the only non-4x4 in the queue not to turn round. The water came into the car with such force and in such a wave that I thought the lower bulkhead (prone to rust on 2cvs) had failed. The water came up to my knees and wet the seat (it wasn't me honest), steam filled the cockpit and I thought it was the end!

I was so thrilled to have made it through (and had only just passed my test) that it completely slipped my mind to test the brakes

It wasn't long til I caught up with the 4x4s at the next -thankfully shallower- flood. The brakes stopped being noisy and started working with only inches to spare! The extreme close up of the back of the car in front means I will never forget my brakes again! :o

Got to uni and had to try and look natural with a wet bum and 6inches wet trouser legs.

An old cookery stock pot would be about right I think sizewise once I've got this working. :)

Sorted out a new unit today for t'business. Slightly cheaper, loads better and the icing on the cake is that a few of the other units are used for classic car storage - one opposite has a very tidy looking Ford Pop, MG 1100 / 1300 and Lotus Elise in it.

Happy days :D
