Bedford CF/HA, Zephyr mk3, Vauxhall PA, Chrysler PT Cruiser, Marina Van/PU maybe, sometime, eventually...

I knew about that one already, but thank you for digging it out!  One has to admire the engineering that's gone into creating it; it's way, way, WAY beyond my skills but considering how rotten the original Cresta was, I can't disapprove.  I mean, why would I?

Actually there is a reason: I don't like two-door cars, I prefer a four-door.  That aside, I do approve, in spades!

Guess, lol.  I do have a better class of swopper available now though: a very lovely Jag.

Actually the funds have improved slightly, although only in terms of being able to run such things.  The buying-for-cash capability hasn't improved.  And for bringing the cold light of reality into the thread, may the fleas of a thousand camels infest your armpits.

I'm going to add to this plea.  More and more I think about the mk3 Zephyr my dad had from new, so let's add these into the mix.  Preferably a 6 or even a Zodiac.  This sort of thing...

This one's on ebay now at £5k but it wouldn't have to be quite so lovely.  It's going to live outside and get used!

There was one in Emsworth in Hampshire the other day on the side of the road with a for sale sign in the window, no price just a number to ring for details, it was blue and a bit ratty, looked to have been brush painted a while ago, if I see it again I’ll take a picture for you

So a quick google of Zephers for sale in Hampshire brings up this video of when a dealer had it for sale a few years ago. This is definitely the car I saw on the side of the road

But it looks a lot more worse for wear now

Talking of Hampshire zephyrs there's an old boy who lives near Bransbury Park in Southsea who has a blue one as a daily driver (he's also got a P5 for special occasions). Sometime last year it got bent and was looking sorry for itself with a damaged wing & grill. It's now up on stands with a new wing and slowly being put back together

Very interesting and nice. It's got a MoT which lists some faults as advisories - clearly an oil leak hence the board on the drive.  Not expensive for what it is - difficult to tell from the photos if it's OK bodywise.

But what would you do with it? I say that as one who has bought stuff in the past and then gone hmmmmm. I'd check out insurance before anything.

MoT lists it as a 'Bedford Crane'.

What would I do with it?  Drive it around as my classic daily!  I have no need of a recovery truck, a flatbed or plain van would be much better, but they aren't being offered.

Yes. It would be possible to 'decrane' it and adapt it into a pick-up body with some adapted bits.

I probably know enough banger lads around here to get a sale on a complete speclift body!  Might even be able to get a flat thrown in, and even fitted.  But that doesn't really matter, the important bit is getting a CF cab round me on a regular basis.

They turn up in France from time to time. Couple of vans on LeBonCoin at the moment circa €3000 but neither with a CT (MoT) so not usable on the road and a faff to get back on the road. Not sure how much of a following they have. I will check it out next time I see one - which will be very  rarely.

A 4 speed. Ok for round the houses but on any kind of distance 55/60 max. I stuck a 5 speed in the one, of two, I had and it made a world of difference. The seats on that one look good but there is no adjustment on them and I found them too upright for my back. Not comfy.

Here's a Vauxhall PA Cresta but it's £22,995.

Eagle-eyed readers will have noticed something.  I've changed the thread title.

Yes, I've added in The Car That's Too Shite For Autoshite!

I had one before and liked it, so why not have another?  (Don't answer that!)  This time round it will absolutely have to be an automatic 2.4 Petrol convertible, in a nice colour, because its entire purpose is to nurse my fragile ego.    Usual terms apply: for something nice enough I can offer a whole V8 Jag to swop (MoT November 2025), or the seller would have to be patient enough to wait for me to get a sale.

I am, of course, not expecting instant results.

And I've added again.  Marina or HA van, both of which I already have experience of; both of which are enviably simple.
